Primer acte de repressió explícita i de violència permesa contra el rebuig de les polítiques aplicades pels governs central i autonòmic. Com si València no estiguera ja prou col·locada al mapa de la vergonya, la Policia Nacional s’hi sumava ahir i despús-ahir als nostres responsables polítics i posava el seu gra d'arena per enfonsar un poc més la imatge de la nostra terra.
Les víctimes? Els estudiants de l’IES Lluís Vives, que en aquesta ocasió es concentraven a les portes de l’institut per reclamar la calefacció i altres serveis bàsics que falten al centre perquè el Consell –a aquest tampoc- no paga les factures del subministramentss. I així, #IESLluísVives, el cèntric institut de València amb llarga tradició contestatària, es convertí en primer tema de conversa en Twitter a tot l’Estat durant la vesprada d’ahir. Malauradament, no fou per recordar la figura de l’humanista valencià més cèlebre de tots els temps.
Fins a deu persones foren detingudes ahir en la concentració que protestava contra la repressió policíaca comesa el dia d’abans, que havia acabat amb un adolescent arrestat i diversos ferits.
Les porres arribaren fins i tot dins d’El Corte Inglés, on els agents hi van retindre una xiqueta, després d’haver colpejat dues persones que s’hi refugiaren dins del centre. Tot, amb el vistiplau del gran magatzem
Coses de les Forces de Seguretat de l’Estat, el rebuig a la violència se saldà amb més violència. La crida a la solidaritat amb els estudiants represaliats el dia anterior va funcionar per fi i, ahir a la vesprada, la gentada concentrada al carrer Xàtiva aconseguia obrir-se pas entre el trànsit del carrer Colom i burlar fins i tot el desmesurat desplegament policial –al voltant de vint furgons d’antiavalots es comptaven a la zona- que intentà dispersar, sense èxit, la protesta disparant pilotes de goma. I la seguretat estatal es refugià en el lliure mercat i aquest l’obrí les portes de casa: les porres arribaren fins i tot dins d’El Corte Inglés, on els agents hi van retindre una xiqueta, després d’haver colpejat dues persones que s’hi refugiaren dins del centre. Tot, amb el vistiplau del gran magatzem.
Quan començaren a córrer les notícies sobre més detencions, la protesta -que havia marxat cap a la seu de la Delegació del Govern per demanar responsabilitats a Paula Sánchez de León- es desplaçà fins a la Prefectura Nacional de Policia de la Gran Via de Ferran el Catòlic, on es trobaven els nous detinguts. A les portes de la comissaria, es repetiren les càrregues dels agents i els arrestos. Allà, també la diputada de Compromís, Mònica Oltra, va ser colpejada.
Paula Sánchez De León, al punt de mira
Per totes aquestes actuacions, Esquerra Unida, la Coalició Compromís i l’Intersindical demanaven ahir la dimissió "immediata" de Sánchez de León. I #PSánchezDimissió, de nou a Twitter, prenia força a primeres hores de la nit.
La síndica d’EUPV en Les Corts, Marga Sanz, lamentà que la delegada del Govern "no coneix la Constitució ni el dret a la manifestació". Per a Sanz, "no es pot ocultar el malestar davant els retalls del Consell als serveis públics amb repressió i conculcant drets fonamentals, com el dret a manifestar-se". "Ahir –per dimecres, assenyalà la síndica d’esquerres- vam exigir que es depuraren responsabilitats i hui –per ahir- demanem la dimissió de la delegada del Govern". A més, Sanz condemnà que "dos càrrecs públics, com són les diputades Esther López Barceló i Marina Albiol, hagen sigut espentades per la policia i se’ls haja impedit l’accés a la concentració".
L’STEPV, a més de demanar als centres educatius que s’adherisquen al comunicat elaborat per la comunitat educativa de l’IES Lluís Vives i que demanen la dimissió de la delegada del govern, ha proposat per a hui al professorat una aturada de classes després de l’hora del pati i concentracions de protesta a la porta dels centres, "en rebuig a aquesta nova agressió i en solidaritat amb l’alumnat detingut". El sindicat insisteix, a més, que "aquestes agressions responen a una estratègia meditada de desprestigi i criminalització de l’ensenyament públic i de la comunitat educativa". Per tot això, el Sindicat continua "animant el professorat i el conjunt de la comunitat educativa a mantindre i incrementar la pressió i las contundència de la resposta i continuar les mobilitzacions previstes per a aquest mes de febrer". Per la seua part, l’alumnat tornava a convocar una concentració pel proper dilluns 20 a les 14:45 hores a les portes del centre.
En total, els aldarulls d’estos dos dies podrien haver-se saldat amb onze detencions. De les sis persones arrestades durant el matí d’ahir –una menor d’edat, que quedà lliure en personar-se son pare-, una d’elles eixia en llibertat ahir a la nit, mentre que les altres quatre –totes militants d’organitzacions d’esquerres- romanien declarant i "segurament" passarien la nit a la comissaria de la Gran Via Ferran el Catòlic, segons confirmà ahir a l'Iinformatiu Adoración Guamán, membre de la Comissió de Justícia del 15-M. Dues persones més eren detingudes a la vesprada davant la mateixa Prefectura Policial, una de les quals va haver de ser evacuada en ambulància a causa de les lesions provocades pels agents en la detenció. A més, diverses fonts parlen de dos arrestos més als voltants del carrer Colom, que no han pogut ser confirmats per aquest diari.

The Canadian Army (CA) in Atlantic Canada is concentrated at 5CDSB Gagetown from 23 to 29 August for a large-scale collective training exercise the likes of which has not been seen for many years. 5th Cdn Div is running Ex ST 14, a leadership training exercise that is providing its members with the opportunity to hone their individual and collective soldiering skills while working side-by-side with fellow soldiers from across Atlantic Canada. Approximately 770 soldiers are involved in the training which is taking place in the 5 CDSB training area.

L’Armée canadienne du Canada atlantique se regroupe à BS 5 Div CA Gagetown du 23 au 29 août, à l’occasion d’un exercice d’entraînement collectif à grande échelle d’une ampleur qu’on n’a pas vue depuis de nombreuses années. Il s’agit de Ex ST 14, un exercice d’entraînement organisé par 5e Division du Canada (5 Div CA) qui est axé sur le leadership. Il donne l’occasion aux participants de parfaire leurs compétences militaires individuelles et collectives en travaillant aux côtés de leurs collègues de l’ensemble du Canada atlantique. Environ 770 militaires prennent part à l’entraînement, qui a lieu dans le secteur d’entraînement de la BS 5 Div CA.

Kurds in London protested outside Downing Street on Sept 11th 2015 following the cynical, opportunistic bombing by the Turkish government of Kurdish positions in Northern Iraq from where Kurdish fighters from Turkey had been making great progress defeating ISIL, and also against the harsh curfew imposed on the Kurdish city of Cizre on the Turkish-Syrian border.

soirée du jeudi 25 juillet 2013 : impossible de sortir de chez moi voir un concert en ville sans être agressée verbalement par des habitants de ma rue, inconnus de moi. J'ai été agresssée verbalment à 3 reprises dans la soirée, la 3eme fois, j'ai pu tout enregistrer. Notez bien que je ne réponds pas aux provocations ni aux insultes de ces individus, remrquez comme ils campent à même le trottoir, comme en territoire conquis. Ma petite ville du sud, c'est pire que le Bronx ! Mais que fait la police ?!

My own title for the image would be "Keep on running". The trainee soldiers had already put in many hours of ardous training at this point and then they had to run around the field quite a few times. It was clear that some were exhausted but would keep on running but others were on their last legs.

Plus de 250 pratiquants de l'art martial d'Aïkido ont participé à un stage de trois jours à la salle omnisports de Marville le week-end dernier. « Après avoir animé un rassemblement à Gignac (34), l'expert Japonais Tsurozo Miyamoto, 7e dan, a dirigé le stage malouin », a précisé le président du comité régional Christian Massez.
Nombreux participants avaient fait le déplacement de tout l'hexagone ainsi que l'Allemagne, la Suisse et la Grande-Bretagne. L'Association Sportive de la Jeanne d'Arc était le club hôte de la manifestation.
L'aïkido (合気道, aikidō?) est un art martial japonais (budo), fondé par Morihei Ueshiba O sensei entre 1925 et 1960. L'aïkido a été officiellement reconnu par le gouvernement japonais en 1940 sous le nom d’aikibudō1. Il a été créé à partir de l'expérience que son fondateur avait de l'enseignement des koryu (écoles d'arts martiaux anciennes), essentiellement le ju-jitsu de l'école daitō ryū, le kenjutsu2 (art du sabre japonais) et l'aikijutsu. L'aïkido est né de la rencontre entre ces techniques de combat et une réflexion métaphysique de Morihei Ueshiba sur le sens de la pratique martiale à l'ère moderne.
L'aïkido se compose de techniques avec armes et à mains nues utilisant la force de l'adversaire, ou plutôt son agressivité et sa volonté de nuire. Ces techniques visent non pas à vaincre l'adversaire, mais à réduire sa tentative d'agression à néant3. L'aïkido peut être considéré comme la concrétisation du concept de légitime défense : une réaction proportionnée et immédiate à une agression. En fait, dans l'esprit de l'aïkido, il n'y a pas de combat, puisque celui-ci se termine au moment même où il commence. Conformément à cette logique, il n'existe pas de compétition d'aïkido excepté dans le style Shodokan fondé par Kenji Tomiki (et de ce fait appelé aussi Tomiki ryu, École Tomiki).

The American Civil War has been known by a number of different names since it began in 1861. These names reflect the historical, political, and cultural sensitivities of different groups and regions.
The most common name, particularly in modern American usage, is simply "the Civil War". Although not used during the war, the term "War Between the States" became widespread afterward in the Southern United States. During and immediately after the war, Northern forces often used the term "War of the Rebellion", while the Southern equivalent was "War for Southern Independence". The latter regained some currency in the late 20th century, but has again fallen out of use. Other terms often reflect a more explicitly partisan view of events, such as "War of Northern Aggression", used by some Southerners, or the "Freedom War", used by their black counterparts to reflect the celebratory nature of Juneteenth, which marked the end of the war.
A variety of names also exist for the forces on each side; the opposing forces named battles differently as well. The Union forces frequently named battles for bodies of water that were prominent on or near the battlefield; Confederates most often used the name of the nearest town.

I write this letter in the hopes that the few of you not brainwashed may yet retain the ability to think for yourselves. The proud grandson of a Confederate soldier here is South Carolina, I write to set the official record straight and to defend my heritage. You have been lied to. . . . All that the South ever desired was that the Union of forefathers should be preserved. We were not fighting for slavery. We were fighting for independence.

This fight - which the Union won only because of "overwhelming numbers and resources," Southern heroism in battle being unparalleled - was never fought against slavery and for freedom, as people now claim. The Confederacy was never about keeping black people down. The assertion that the South fought for slavery is Yankee propaganda and a monstrous distortion. Instead, what the Confederacy really represented was the true legacy of the American Revolution in its defense of state sovereignty and the tyranny of big government to bully and coerce. The North waged a brutal and unholy war on a people who had done them no wrong, in violation of the Constitution and the fundamental principles of government as defined in 1776.

So what was the war really about? Control. And money. It was about the right of the North, grown arrogant and swollen with money and increasing numbers of citizens, to dominate the South. The contest was really for empire on the side of the North and for independence on that of the South.
. . . History often paints the Confederates as violent backwater racists who sought a revolution against Abraham Lincoln and the enlightened North. In truth, the Northerners were the real revolutionaries. They were self-confessed rebels against the old order of America. It was they who broke the covenant of 1789 and killed off the "Spirit of '76." Ever since Appomattox, we have never experienced true liberty or true freedom in the way that pre-1865 Americans did. Every time I look at modern Atlanta, or almost any other big Southern city today, I see what a quarter million Confederate soldiers died to prevent. It is factories, pollution, crime, a breakdown in community and morals - a loud ugly world where people are strangers to one another, money and materialism is the god all worship, and family is everywhere besieged. The Northern vision of the future won out in 1865 over the Southern way of life. That is a tragedy.

Some of these streets, even during day time and if crowded with people, can be dangerous - everyone was telling me "cuidado !", but it was too inspiring to be resisted ! Very atmospherical place, specially at night... I was out each night and "flirted a bit with danger", was rewarded by 2 agressions, fortunately by "amateurs" - after the 2nd time, was much more careful about my choice of areas but it is the south of Havana Vieja that is certainly the most special at night IMO !

Next to a large pod of hippos, these two guys surfaced and were in for some mischief.
The value of one of my new toys was proven instantanuously: a Manfrotto Superclamp with a sturdy ballhead attached to the boat's railing proved a super-stable shooting platform.
No post-processing, I only cropped the picture about 40% to create a more dramatic effect, giving more attention to the splash action in the center of the image...

Some shots of egrets and herons in their natural environment. Here are juvenile great blue heron and great egret that I photographed in Sunken Meadow State Park during late summer. Great blue herons usually leave Long island in the early spring to breed and nest and they are coming back in he summer along with freshly fledged juvenile birds. Usually Sunken Meadow Park hosts few young great blue herons every year. In 2011 there was one that for some reason befriended with great egret. I saw them many times hanging out together and whenever one took off, another followed right after.The birds were preying and rested together and i had never observed any act of agression. They were very cautious and stayed away fom the people so I only managed to take some distant shots

Am 75. Jahrestag des Überfalls Deutschlands auf die Sowjetunion am 22. Juni 1941 protestieren Ukrainer vor dem Berliner Dom anlässlich eines einer Gedenkfeier der russischen Botschaft, die zeitgleich im Dom stattfindet. Sie kritisieren dabei die russische Politik unter Präsidenten Wladimir Putin, die das Gedenken an die Millionen Toten der deutschen Agression an sich reißen würde und erinnern daran, dass die Ukraine, wie auch andere ehemaligen Sowjetrepubliken einen Großteil der Last des Krieges getragen haben.
Am Rand kam es immer wieder zu Wortgefechten mit Russen, sowie putintreuen, russischen Nationalisten wie Dr. Andrej Tchernodarov und Oleg Muzyka.
