Aggregating Anemone (Anthopleura elegantissima). Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Moss Beach, San Mateo Co., Calif. This polyp is a "scout" or "warrior" that lives at the edge of a colony of genetically identical individuals. When threatened by a polyp from an adjacent colony, it inflates its acrorhagi, the outer row of specialized white tentacles. The acrorhagi, normally not seen, are defensive stinging cells, that are not used to gather food, only to fend off intrusions by the neighbors. This photo shows a rare view of a very excited scout in full fighting mode.

As I perused my little collection to fulfill a personal weekend task, I stumbled upon this pic which I took sometime ago and decided to explore my ideas. I really wanted to call it "Convergence" as this photo represents a compilation of contrasts, colours and blends. I indeed am trying to showcase and highlight a few items of interest which should indeed stand out to you as it did me. :-) "Colour Aggregate" indeed works as well to enable me to view a small composition of colour input against a less colour reflective image. This photo was taken on a mini Flickr WI trip to an old train station in Old Harbour, St. Catherine. :-)
