As I perused my little collection to fulfill a personal weekend task, I stumbled upon this pic which I took sometime ago and decided to explore my ideas. I really wanted to call it "Convergence" as this photo represents a compilation of contrasts, colours and blends. I indeed am trying to showcase and highlight a few items of interest which should indeed stand out to you as it did me. :-) "Colour Aggregate" indeed works as well to enable me to view a small composition of colour input against a less colour reflective image. This photo was taken on a mini Flickr WI trip to an old train station in Old Harbour, St. Catherine. :-)
Celestite from Ohio, USA.
A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are over 6100 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.
The sulfate minerals all contain one or more sulfate anions (SO4-2).
Celestite (a.k.a. celestine) is a strontium sulfate mineral, SrSO4. Its name has the same etymology as "celestial", meaning "sky", in reference its bluish to pale bluish crystals. This mineral has a nonmetallic luster, a clearish to whitish to pale blue to bluish-gray color, a white streak, a hardness of 3 to 3.5, two cleavages, and is noticeably heavy for its size. It forms diagenetically and also occurs in low-temperature hydrothermal vein systems.
The celestite crystals shown above were partially filling a cavity (vug) in Middle Paleozoic sedimentary rock. The specimen is from northwestern Ohio, which is on the southeastern flanks of the Michigan Basin. The strontium-rich fluids from which the celestite crystallized apparently traveled updip from the Michigan Basin. For more info. on Ohio celestite, see Carlson (1991, Minerals of Ohio, Ohio Geological Survey Bulletin 69, 155 pp.) and Carlson (2015 - Minerals of Ohio, Second Edition, Ohio Geological Survey Bulletin 69 (Second Edition), 290 pp.).

Bedhampton Wharf looking more than usually attractive in the evening sun. Normally this is a cold and bleak place but the sunlight brought out some surprisingly rich colours.
I always wondered what this place was -1 minute on Google gave me the answer ...
Bedhampton Wharf, lying close to Havant in the north of the harbour, is operated by Solent Aggregates. The site comprises over four and a half acres and is served by a 70-metre quay. Part of the berth dries at low water and vessels up to 4.0 metres draft discharge between HW –1 hour and HW +1 hr 30min. There is limited turning area off the berth for vessels over 50 metres.

Conveyor bucket system which once linked the Prestonhill Quarry with the River Forth. The quarry - one of two locally - once mined an aggregate used in road surafces, Quartz Dolerite. The quarry has been closed for as long as I can remember, with most of it now underwater. The rusting steel square was a later addition once the structure between the path and the quarry itself was removed, designed to prevent explorers endangering themselves on the structure.

A growing literature has documented that firm dynamics exhibit substantial differences in developed and developing countries. While there is a massive turnover of firms in developed countries, such a selection mechanism is largely absent in developing countries. Understanding the determinants of firm growth, factor reallocation, and firm-level productivity, as well as the link between firm and industry dynamics is key to shed light on performances of aggregate economies. This conference will have prominent researchers present their recent work on the subject and foster a conversation among scholars that use different approaches to understand firm and industry dynamics and their aggregate implications.
When I was younger, I thought that driveways were only made out of one material one way. It took until I was older to realize that driveway can be made from a number of different types of materials and treated different ways. I like the classic look of a normal concrete. Though there are other treatments that look really nice too.
