inagorillacostume.com/2011/funny-friday-funny-retweets-me...
When we created this website we set up an In A Gorilla Costume Twitter account to retweet our blog posts and our guerrilla marketing initiatives. I also used Yahoo! Pipes to aggregate twitter searches and retweet conversations about "in a gorilla costume". I'm not going to lie, I did it to find and retweet some funny sh!t.
Last night I checked on the account for pretty much the first time since our first test guerrilla marketing blog posts in April. Needless to say, i ended up staying up an hour later sifting through and laughing at all of the funny retweets, @replies and love the @AGorillaCostume has received so far.
Without further ado, here are the best, funniest and our favorites.

Management-induced degradation of water stable soil aggregates resulting in destabilized soil carbon; surface crusting; reduced water infiltration, water holding capacity, and aeration; depressed resilience to extreme weather; increased ponding and flooding; increased soil erosion and plant stress; and reduced habitat and soil biological activity.
Standing water or evidence of surface runoff on the soil resulting from poor infiltration can be an indication of poor aggregate stability resulting in surface crusting. When soil aggregates near the soil surface slake apart (figure 1) and are reduced to a flat layer when the soil gets saturated and then dry out, a crust is formed. This can make it very difficult to impossible for new seedlings to emerge. This condition also reduces rainfall infiltration.
By leaving previous crop residue on the surface, soil crusting can be reduced. By also implementing a basic soil health system aggregate stability can be achieved. Conservation practices such as crop rotation, cover crop, no till and prescribed grazing (when grazing cover crops) can address this resource concern.

Marlstone aggregate concretion from the Pleistocene of Quebec, Canada. (public display, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA)
Concretions are post-depositional structures found in some sedimentary successions, particularly in shales. They vary in mineralogy, size, and shape, but often have slightly flattened spheroidal shapes. They typically form by post-depositional mineralization around some nucleus (a rock fragment or fossil fragment).
The Canadian specimen shown here formed by fusion of several smaller concretions - hence the term "aggregate concretion". The rock itself is marlstone, a mix of fine-grained calcareous and clay components ("lime-clay").
Samples from this site are remarkable for their unusual shapes, which promote pareidolia in human observers. Museum signage accompanying this specimen suggests a "girl with a bow in her hair".

Been a long time since we offered a Yemen coffee - we love them incredibly but with the political battles and atrocities taking place we avoided them. Recently we have gotten into some good discussions with coffee folks and the recent thinking is, good to support these Yemen farmers regardless of what is politically happening in the country. Yemen does aggregate farming, small holders - they do not have traditional farms like we normally see. Traceability is hard on these coffees but we are good buddies with Bob and Max at Royal Coffee and the Yemeni Importer has been good friends with Bob and Max for a long time. As vetted as we could get.
Part of what makes Yemen coffee so cool is shared with Ethiopia - these places are the original habitat for coffee, tons of undocumented strains and wild plants incorporate these beans (partly why they roast uneven). Be prepared for some flavors unique to Ethiopia and Yemen.
Yemen Mocca Haimi is sourced from family owned plots located in the Al-Haimah districts in the Sana'a governorate within the western highlands of Yemen, parallel to the Red Sea. Yemen is perhaps the most historic coffee growing region in the world, second only to Ethiopia, with a lineage spanning more than 2,000 years. Coffee production continues today with many of the same traditions dating back to the 15th century, like drying coffee naturally in the cherry on the rooftops of houses perched on the edges of steep mountain ridges.
Mocca Haimi is the product of 23 producers who work closely with an export company called Pearl of Tehama. Through the collaboration small producers have learned processing techniques to ensure consistency in their coffee. Pearl of Tehama is also providing localized receiving warehouses to ease the burden of transporting coffee and ensure safe storage. Pearl of Tehama is currently helping producers organize formally because recognized producer associations can solicit international assistance for need infrastructure improvements like roads, schools and water systems.
Tasting Notes: Classic Yemen coffee - fruity and chocolaty. Yemen coffees are the rare cup where you can occasionally see a "banana" like fruit tone - don't worry though, its a little bit of a reach for banana, its not like eating a banana or banana flavored coffee, although with developed tongue, most can pick it up. Red fruit and bakers chocolate are the dominate tones - fruit is accentuated with lighter roasts, chocolaty with darker roasts. A lovely super complex old world natural.
Roasting Notes: Yemen Mocca is old world natural processed - high chaff and a bit uneven roasting. The cup profile is good light to dark, if roasting on the lighter side, make sure the beans are through first crack - darker roast is easy. Our favorite was a nice medium roast, chocolaty factor is nice and strong but doesn't mute all the front end jazz.

The Giro d'Italia (Italian pronunciation: [ˈdʒiːro diˈtaːlja]; English: Tour of Italy) is an annual stage race bicycle race primarily held in Italy, while also occasionally passing through nearby countries. The race was first organized in 1909 to increase sales of the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport; however it is currently run by RCS Sport. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1909, except when it was stopped for the two world wars. As the Giro gained prominence and popularity the race was lengthened, and the peloton expanded from primarily Italian participation to riders from all over the world. The Giro is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI Proteams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers can invite.
Along with the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, the Giro makes up cycling's prestigious three-week-long Grand Tours. The Giro is usually held during late May and early June. While the route changes each year, the format of the race stays the same, with the appearance of at least two time trials, and a passage through the mountains of the Alps
including the Dolomites. Like the other Grand Tours, the modern editions of the Giro d'Italia normally consist of 21 day-long segments (stages) over a 23-day period that includes 2 rest days.
All of the stages are timed to the finish. After finishing the riders' times are compounded with their previous stage times. The rider with the lowest aggregate time is the leader of the race and gets to don the coveted pink jersey. While the general classification gathers the most attention there are other contests held within the Giro: the points classification for the sprinters, the mountains classification for the climbers, young rider classification for the riders under the age of 25 and the team classification for the competing teams. The 2013 edition of the race was won by Italian rider Vincenzo Nibali.

Fish aggregating devices (FADs) are placed in coastal waters each year to attract pelagic fish (ocean-going, mid water column dwellers) for recreational fishing which eases fishing pressure on traditional reefs and other fishing grounds.
Anecdotal reports from fishers indicate that the devices are effective with substantial catches being recorded.

Sandblasted Exposed Aggregate poured wall with 1 inch stone and broom finished concrete steps and landing. By The Concrete Artisans, Inc.
Exposed aggregate concrete has almost unlimited possibility to be used basically anywhere on a domestic home. Yard paths and porches are likely the most common outdoor applications, however the variety of appearances, colors, and textures readily available have developed the demand for garage floors, garden wall surfaces and driveways made from this impressive process. Indoors, experienced craftsmans may create stunning floorings, stairways as well as countertops and hearths from exposed aggregate concrete. Liquid Limestone is a famous structure product. It often has small fossils of marine origin, together with clays, of sedimentary origin, which give it incredible colours. This objective can be accomplished by an effective option of ceramic tiles followed by their correct upkeep. Anthopleura elegantissima, also known as the aggregating anemone or clonal anemone, is the most abundant species of sea anemone found on rocky, tide swept shores along the Pacific coast of North America. This cnidarian hosts endosymbiotic algae called zooxanthellae that contribute substantially to primary productivity in the intertidal zone. A. elegantissima has become a model organism for the study of temperate cnidarian-algal symbioses.
The polyps of Anthopleura elegantissima reach up to eight cm across the oral disk with approximately 100 tentacles in three or four rows around the margins of the oral disk. Most are olive to bright green (depending on the species of algal symbionts present) with tentacles tipped in pink. Individuals that live in microhabitats that are deficient in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), such as under docks or in caves, lack symbionts and are pale yellow to white in color.
Pacific coast of North America from Alaska, United States to Baja California, Mexico.
This species of anemone is capable of reproducing both sexually and asexually. As adults, A. elegantissima release gametes into the water that join to form genetically unique individuals that settle on intertidal rock. This genetically distinct individual can then proliferate through binary fission. Some argue that this is not true reproduction but actually a form of growth. Fission is often prompted in the autumn by a decrease in the abundance of food and follows sexual spawning in summer. Over time, a single individual can generate a large colony of genetically identical polyps. Because of its ability to grow in this manner, the genetic entity of a colony is potentially immortal on an ecological time scale.
Anthopleura elegantissima is agonistic toward other individuals with different genetic disposition. When one colony of genetically identical polyps encounters a different genetic colony, the two will wage territorial battles. A. elegantissima has specialized tentacles called acrorhagi that are used solely to deter other colonies from encroaching on their space. When a polyp makes physical contact with a non-clonemate, it extends the acrorhagi to attack the competing anemone with stinging cells called nematocytes. Acrorhagi of the attacking anemone leave behind a 'peel' of the ectoderm and nematocysts that causes tissue necrosis in the receiving animal.
A study of two colonies on a boulder removed from the shore and brought into a laboratory revealed that hostilities between neighboring colonies follow the tides. As water rushed into the tank, warrior polyps inflated their acrorhagi, tripled their body length and began reaching into an empty swath of rock between the colonies. Occasionally, a polyp from one of the colonies would move into the spatial zone between the two colonies, acting as a scout, and would be attacked by the warrior polyps of the other clone. If the scout polyp received enough stings, it would be attacked by its clonemates upon return to its own colony. The return of an attacked scout to the clone with acrorhagial peel may serve to communicate the presence and identity of neighboring clones to the interior of the colony.
