Our living room on Christmas morning, after the paper-tearing was done.
Look in the windows, on the left, and you can tell how I shot this. One light is beind the tree pushing light onto the ceiling; another light is on-camera also pushing light into ceiling. This raises the ambient light of the room considerably and it's pretty easy to have a well-lit scene. Of course, the plentiful distortion comes from shooting with an ultrawide lens -- 15 mm (in 35 mm terms)!
Not much is left of this home after the May 22, 2011 tornado tore through Joplin, Missouri.

Toe scrape from crashing the rental bike. That had a kid seat on the
back. Which contained Asher. Who was wearing a helmet and emerged
unscathed.
It's not a vacation if I don't bleed.
Shades of when I first met Jieun's mom, but one of the first things we do in Korea is go get me a haircut. I think I've said this before, but it's shocking how much more stylish Koreans are now compared to when I was first there. But yeah, I now feel unstylish for being an American in Korea, which is somewhat odd.
Hairstyle in particular has changed a lot. So like, short tapered hair is out. It's all about longish hair, but still kinda spiky on top. The messed up look is in. And highlights are out. They all dye their hair a solid color now, no streaks. None of this looks appealing to me, so it's just like shoes, I have no idea what looks good, I just have to go with something and hope it looks OK.
So she cuts my hair in a very weird way, trying as much as possible to make it stick up. Dunno if you can tell in this pic, but yeah, that's the look. It looked absolutely awful to me, so if I look dazed in this pic, there's a reason.
Damaged farmhouse at Edwards Apple Orchard Poplar Grove, IL. 1-15-08
They don't build them like they used too !
This old farm house took a direct F-3 tornado hit and is still standing !
A newer house a few hundred yards east of here was completely blown away leaving nothing behind but a empty concrete slab.
A violent storm blew through the Madison area in the very early morning hours of Tuesday, June 17, 2014 - including a possible tornado touchdown on the near east side. Down at BB Clarke Beach, rental canoes and kayaks were blown away entirely or wedged underneath downed trees, like this one, which I found floating peacefully one day later.

Oh sure, it's cute to see Ava play with the cassettes until THIS happens. Never mind - they're not labelled, couldn't have been anything very important.
