After the incredible close cg show at dusk, a stormy evening followed.

The aftermath of the storm was as spectaculair as the beginning, with numerous lightnings crawling through the sky.

These mercs really ought to give up.

I am getting kinda tired of the HYDRA Kalashnikov and green barrel warehouse, time for something new, what do you guys think I should try to build?

it's not really, it's just a burnt out motorbike on a foggy morning.

Acorn Woodpecker cavity enlargement. It chisels out wood chips, takes them in its beak, then flings them to the four winds (four shot sequence--see adjacent photos).

Yellowstone National Park. A many of us know fires seem to be increasing in size, frequency and intensity. This is what they leave behind, I shudder to think of the loss.

This tree was considered so burnt by the 2020 Australian bushfires it was felled. Not dead yet.

Hurricane Irma had a major impact on Sint Maarten in 2017, as well as in the French part Saint-Martin. There were many victims and the damage was enormous. In the Dutch part, much has been rebuilt and renovated in the years that followed, but in the French part, the aftermath of the hurricane is still visible in the streets. Many buildings are also still abandoned.

Aftermath.

Aftermath of a north Pacific storm, with remains of a boardwalk (left) and moss-covered logs (foreground and center) that were once the beams of a Haida longhouse. S'Gaang Gwaii Ilnagaay (Anthony Island), a UNESCO Heritage Site (Ninstints), Gwaii Haanas National Heritage Site, Haida Gwaii, BC. The root balls of two giant uprooted trees can be seen in the image and the long trunk of another runs horizontally across the frame. Amazing how quickly Mother Nature can rearrange a landscape!

Strobist info:

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights, positioned at 9- and 3-o'clock, one-foot above and three-feet away from the subject. They were fired in Manual mode @ ⅛ -0.7EV power through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.

Had the chance yesterday to get out to Crystal Beach at Fort Erie, Ontario Canada to see the aftermath of last week's massive winter snowstorm.

Strong winds tossed freezing water from Lake Erie coating the houses in thick layer of ice.

♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥

After getting a really wet, the rain cloud kindly moved over the Seven Sisters, creating this beautiful with the dark sky.

In the aftermath of the apocalypse, a heavy shroud of despair blankets the land like a suffocating fog. Once-thriving cities now stand as haunting relics of what was, their fractured skylines mute testimony to the relentless march of time. People, those who remain, bear the weight of hopelessness in their eyes, for the world they knew has crumbled into dust. The human spirit, once unbreakable, now grapples with the cold embrace of uncertainty. But even in this desolation, there are whispers of resilience. The indomitable human will finds flickers of hope in the smallest acts of kindness and the strength to rebuild amid the ruins. It's a somber tale of survival, where the tenacity of the human spirit battles the specter of despair, refusing to surrender to the void.

Guess who came for dinner?

There is one road / we hardly know / as you can guess / that's the road we go. // More insight / do we have / about other people's paths. // Somewhere / between our view / and understanding / lies the aftermath.

Playing with my brushes and watercolors again, finished this one today.

After the July 12, 1982 head on between trains 909 and 910 the wrecked units were moved to the siding at Gilchrist. 6601 was trailing 4408 on 909 that fateful day and escaped the carnage fairly well with just some bent up handrails and slight damage. 6600 which was the leader on 910 and submarined under 4408 rests in the distance. Note the official from HQ walking between the two units checking out the damage. July 13, 1982.

Aftermath....

This is on Highway 128, near Lake Berryessa, between Winters and Napa... and where the gigantic LNU Lightning Complex wildfire swept through. The fire is now 98% contained and some of the roads through the site are open now.

thank you for visiting!

One of the first things I noticed when I moved to Kansas several years ago is how imposing the clouds could be during thunderstorms. At first I could imagine a tornado every time I saw those low-hanging wispy black clouds sailing by, always with just a hint of rotation. I have since learned that's just the way it is, and KS has great emergency warning systems as tornadoes are so common. This is part of the aftermath of a pretty severe thunderstorm; you can see the sun peeking out at the lower right.

...of Cyclone Gabrielle. She arrived with a hiss and a roar with so much fury, leaving a trail of devastation in her path. As she left our shores, with a smirk she swung her tail round on Canterbury in the South Island. We had a little rain and lots of wind, our rivers became dirty and swollen while seas were high. The estuary above is usually blue but not today, just brown and dirty. As you can see clouds were having a battle of their own....Kia kaha Aotearoa, Stay strong.
