His big paws and long tail tell us he’ll be a big, cuddly house tiger someday. Sypha is a shy, sweet girl who’s ferociously playful and loves to tussle with her brother. We’re hoping someone will adopt them together, although they can also go to separate homes if you have another cat at home. The Freedom Monument (affectionately known as Milda) marks the boundary between Old and Central Riga. It was erected in 1935 where a statue of Russian ruler Peter the Great once stood. There are representations of Latvians singing and fighting for their freedom on the granite base and Liberty, fashioned from copper, tops the column. Surprisingly the monument remained intact during the Soviet era, although she was strictly off limits and people caught placing flowers at the base were persecuted.

Affectionately known around these parts as "The Cog", this railway is officially called Mt Washington Cog Railway. According to our tour map, The Cog is the first mountain climbing railroad ... hmmm.
Unfortunately it was just disappearing over the edge when I got there ... descending from our 6288 ft to Marshall Station, about 2500 ft, Hwy 302, Fabyans, New Hampshire.
