To be honest painting this conversion wore me out. There was just so much detail and fiddly bits that I ended up rushing quite a few bits just to get it done. Fortunately scappy metal bits is a good look for a tech priest so that helps hide my sins. Also Mordant Earth did a good job on the base, which helped things a lot too.

Magos Torvolts is very popular when lumens mounted on high ceilings need replaced. The three mechadendrites holding Torvolt's Omnissian Axe were made from green stuff using Green Stuff World's roll maker tools.

I can't shake the feeling that the Castellan robot looks like it should transform into something.

The Castellan's bulbous appearance was at odds to the looks of all the other Imperial robot designs, which were a lot blockier in general. This is most apparent with the back weapon mount, a common piece for all robots, and which looks out of place on the Castellan.

If the Castellan robot is supposed to function as a bodyguard for Magos Torvolts then its doesn't really look suited to the task. I figure that perhaps Torvolts discovered the robot on a technoarchaeological expedition and having managed to decipher the complicated protocols required to program it, has decided to keep it around.

This is a Rogue Trader (Warhammer 40,000 first edition) era Imperial Castellan Robot. I got it for Christmas in 1993 but it sat in a box for the past 27 years until I decided to make a companion for Magos Torvolts.
