An eastbound Metra Milwaukee District train passes Transfer G41 with a pair of UP SD40N's doubling their train. This is on the east end of Bensenville yard. A Cathay Pacific Cargo 747 takes off from O'Hare in the distance.
There was also a pelican, a couple of Pacific Black Ducks and a flock of Corella's in a distant tree. Not a huge dam for so much bird activity
WAMX 4173, 4177 and 4181 are looking like a fine, classic WSOR trio as they pound the jointed rail of the Waukesha sub westward, approaching Road-X outside of North Prairie with 84 cars on the headpin. Lots of goobers out and about, avoided by going to some obscure crossings and other locations.
This was one of those times when I grabbed my camera from a field late at night and forgot to stop the timelapse. I recorded part of the scene I was shooting and part of the walk to my car. I'm guessing the strange lines are from my camera shaking while I walked and catching the light I was using to see. Or maybe it's ghosts... but I doubt it.
When you go fishing, you know that a lot of preparation, skill and time is spent in obtaining your fresh catch. Right? Well, it's no different for the brown bears ... but they also possess an incredible amount of patience to go with it. Especially if you're this particular bear.
See, this bear was cruising the creek for salmon. When he (let's assume that it was a he ... not sure) saw us, he decided after a brief time to park himself along the bank of the creek, but staying in the water. I was excited because that usually means that it's time for some quick action, lunging shots of the salmon pursuit ... you know, bear claws, intensity in the face of the predator, and lots of splash. I set up my gear and tried to exercise some patience. Well, bears win on the patience front, that's for sure. This guy just sat there for what seemed to be an hour (OK, maybe it was 15-20 minutes) and stared at us, while he intermittently stared down a few salmon as well. At his personal "dinner table", the brightly colored salmon swam by him in numbers. He waited for just the right one ... the nice big fat one full of roe. You guessed it too, I missed the lunge shot! Oh well. LOL. There will be lots more lunges, as this bear continues to "fatten up" for the winter.
This is how I feel while waiting for the year end holidays. Anxious for them to get here, carefully choosing my activities, and getting ready to plan for the future.

Wherever we going the world... one, we prefer the seaside anyway and two, we look for the working/fishing harbour.
It is always more interesting and with more photo-opportunities then the yachting harbours..
Boats are more colourful with either fresh paint or peeling paint.
I chose three from a huge collection!
One in Scarborough, one in Fuerteventura Moro Jable and another from Spain Fuengirola.

The light that the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope collected to create this Picture of the Week reached the telescope after a journey of 250 million years. Its source was the spiral galaxy UGC 11397, which resides in the constellation Lyra (The Lyre). At first glance, UGC 11397 appears to be an average spiral galaxy: it sports two graceful spiral arms that are illuminated by stars and defined by dark, clumpy clouds of dust.
What sets UGC 11397 apart from a typical spiral lies at its centre, where a supermassive black hole containing 174 million times the mass of the Sun is growing. As a black hole ensnares gas, dust, and even entire stars from its vicinity, this doomed matter heats up and puts on a fantastic cosmic light show. Material trapped by the black hole emits light from gamma rays to radio waves and can brighten and fade without warning. But in some galaxies, including UGC 11397, thick clouds of dust hide much of this energetic activity from view in optical light. Despite this, UGC 11397's actively growing black hole was revealed through its bright X-ray emission — high-energy light that can pierce the surrounding dust. This led astronomers to classify it as a Type 2 Seyfert galaxy, a category used for active galaxies whose central regions are hidden from view in visible light by a doughnut-shaped cloud of dust and gas.
Using Hubble, researchers will study hundreds of galaxies that, like UGC 11397, harbour a supermassive black hole that is gaining mass. The Hubble observations will help researchers weigh nearby supermassive black holes, understand how black holes grew early in the Universe’s history, and even study how stars form in the extreme environment found at the very centre of a galaxy.

This is a early morning scene at the famous Mallick Ghat in Kolkata. I took this picture yesterday morning. This is a very common place for photographer and very well known also. I just tried to click a uncommon frame at this common place. Here is a mixture of silhouette and minimalist characters. The character in the middle of the picture add some more drama to this story. The front two characters are doing some ritual. The bald headed man doing after death ritual of his father with the priest.
It's not often that WAPO is late, although it has been the past few Saturday's which has been nice for me. Seeing a couple of other folks out chasing was nice too, almost like times a few years ago where this train was largely a morning guarantee.
Here a group of us await in the field around Danville Jct, while a maintenance truck rolls up. Lucky for us, he didn't block the shot either, which about 60 seconds before he was (he got a sudden urge to backup, someone give that man a raise!).

serving pizza probably doesn't count as exercise (and even though it holds steady at 85 degrees there is sadly no sun to justify the sweating). i should stop pretending i know how to work on a website and enjoy the outdoors. and on that note, i think this is the last of these silly things that i'm going to make.
