Went to Formby Point today which has been famous as a red squirrel reserve for many years. Sadly the red squirrel population is being decimated by squirrel pox and although there were signs of squirrel activity such as eaten pine cones on the forest floor I did not see a single red squirrel. Very sad.

The Moorlander dining train comes to a stand at Goathland station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway,whilst the signalman approaches with the token for the next section of the line. The engine is Black Five 44806. February 17th 2024.

By far, hands down, Dunkel's favorite activity: Playing in water, whether that is frozen or in the river. Yup - he's all Labrador! (Of course, I'm not counting eating as an activity!)
Hverir, Iceland.
Hverir geothermal area near the town of Reykjahlíð is one of the most intriguing places in Iceland. It has boiling mudpots and fumaroles. The fumaroles (openings in the earth’s crust) emit sulfuric gases. The odor is pretty strong. The ground is covered in mineral deposits of various colors. The mountain overlooking the area is called Namafjall. The terrain and the scenery are simply surreal. This looks more like a hot desert than an area near the Arctic Circle.
The geothermal area is visible right from the roadside of Route 1 aka the Ring Road. If you go there early in the morning like I did you will have the place all to yourself. Shortly after I drove off, busloads of tourists arrived.
Activity on the mid levels at the Zhalai Nouer (Jalainur) open cast coal mine. In temperatures of minus 30C, SY1284 bursts free of her self generated clouds of steam hauling a train that will zig-zag up through the levels - to finally tip the coal onto conveyor belts which ran up to the washery.
All gone now and one of the greatest steam spectacles in the world is no more.

A MOW slot train is tucked in at Wales yard after clearing for a northbound. On the right is the MRF sans crew.
This was an activities room for the patients at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, also known as the Weston State Hospital, located in Weston, WV. The room featured rocking chairs, a piano, a chess set and a 1950s television set. I heard the distinctive, soft sound of snoring while I was there (no joke).
Construction on the hospital began in 1858, with the first patients admitted in 1864. The hospital, designed to hold 250 patients, eventually housed over 2,400 at its peak. The Asylum ceased operations in 1994. During its operation, patients were subjected to a range of now-controversial treatments, including lobotomies, electroconvulsive therapy, insulin shock therapy, and hydrotherapy. Today, the asylum is best known for its historic and paranormal tours, offering a glimpse into both its architecture and the history of mental health treatment in the United States.

There was an outdoor portrait activity , we invited the lovely girl 筱筱 to go to NTU campus to take picture , 筱筱 got pretty face , large eyes , high nose , nice figure with great breast , small waist ,round hip , white skin when she wore a low top skirt , to show her personal elegant style of pose , she is so charming and attractive , thank筱筱 she did her best model job
