Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Flash!
What it took: Used in-camera flash. Set up my portable turntable and opted to use the my vinyl of Brand New's "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" which is on white vinyl. I figured it'd really enhance the shot. In PSElements, added a slight vignette and bumped up the contrast slightly. Added a Square crop, which I felt mirrored the typical square packaging of the vinyl albums.
Two law enforcement officers try to shoot the threat during an active shooter training.
On Apr. 9, 2025, Fort George G. Meade Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) conducted an active shooter training. This training for Military Police Offices and Law Enforcement Agents demonstrated multiple scenarios that may occur in an active shooting scenario. DES conducts these trainings once per quarter to be ready against any threat.

The photograph was taken on Abeggstrasse in Wiesbaden, just north of the
Kurpark. The subject, an active red squirrel, was busy digging in a rose
garden.
Near the north end of Bali, this magnificent, yet active volcano makes its presence known. Very dramatic.

DUNDEE TRAVEL ACTIVE an event over the weekend to promote more cycling and walking in the city.
This swirling mass of celestial gas, dust, and stars is a moderately luminous spiral galaxy named ESO 021-G004, located just under 130 million light-years away. This galaxy has something known as an active galactic nucleus. While this phrase sounds complex, this simply means that astronomers measure a lot of radiation at all wavelengths coming from the centre of the galaxy. This radiation is generated by material falling inwards into the very central region of ESO 021-G004, and meeting the behemoth lurking there — a supermassive black hole. As material falls towards this black hole it is dragged into orbit as part of an accretion disc; it becomes superheated as it swirls around and around, emitting characteristic high-energy radiation until it is eventually devoured. The data comprising this image were gathered by the Wide Field Camera 3 aboard the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
