On Apr. 9, 2025, Fort George G. Meade Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) conducted an active shooter training. This training for Military Police Offices and Law Enforcement Agents demonstrated multiple scenarios that may occur in an active shooting scenario. DES conducts these trainings once per quarter to be ready against any threat.
AIDS Walk St. Petersburg is the premier event benefiting AIDS Service Association of Pinellas, Inc (ASAP). This yearly walk shows the Tampa Bay area our sense of community and compassion for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
ASAP is a not-for-profit organization that offers support services and programs to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Pinellas County. Currently ASAP serves over 1000 residents, which includes ASAP's Pediatric AIDS program that supports over 100 children.
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s Active & Healthy Fair took place at the downtown Central Library on Wednesday, April 24.
The Reverend George Nicholas, leader of the African American Health Disparities Task Force, kicked off this free family event featuring activities, demonstrations, free health screenings and information from more than 50 area health-related organizations. The Library observed National Minority Health Month, which seeks to shine a light on the social and environmental barriers to wellness faced by minority communities.
Adults and children joined the “Hustle for Health” and line danced to R&B favorites, challenged themselves to master the art of the hula hoop and discovered new ways for their familes to be healthy and stay well.
“Health and wellness are cornerstones of a thriving community, but they are challenging for many people to maintain. Our goal is to help close that gap by providing information, connecting patrons with services and showing how wellness activities can be fun and beneficial,” said Library System Director Mary Jean Jakubowski.

CANYON COUNTRY - Members of the Los Angeles Fire Department were honored to join in solemnly celebrating the life of active-duty LAFD Inspector Ramon Carrasco on March 25, 2025, during a funeral mass at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.
The widely respected 25 year veteran of the LAFD, most recently assigned to the Department's Fire Prevention Bureau, Public Assemblage Unit, died on February 25, 2025 from an off-duty medical emergency.
