The Annie Mellor is a passenger vessel built in 1932 by Borwick & Sons as a houseboat for Sir George Mellor, JP. At the time, there was seating for 120 with accommodation for 40 in the cabin which was furnished in blue velvet with mahogany and brass fittings. It arrived at Derwentwater in 1935 and after a total rebuild in 2008 is in regular use. (From Keswick Launch Co. website).
She is very elegant. I think her lines are somewhat spoiled by the safety equipment on the cabin roof, but I do understand.
You can do a round trip on this boat for about a tenner. It calls at six or seven landing stages and you can hop on and off, and re-join as you see fit.
There are three of these launches working on Derwentwater, Princess Margaret Rose, Annie Mellor and Lady Derwentwater. In the course of our day trip by hopping on and off we managed to ride on all three of them.

The structure is composed of prefabricated modular cells which are gradually being hoisted into postion using two yellow cranes. Design by Susan Stephens Architects (now 56three).
224 - 234 Mayfield Road, Edinburgh (planning application 20/00487/FUL). The site was previously The Braidburn Inn and a 1930s garage, formerly J C Todd. The Braid Burn flows between the sites of these two properties (Mayfield Road culvert). There is a long history of flooding from Braid Burn.
The development was stated to comply with the development plan, the council's guidance for Purpose Built Student Accommodation and design guidance. It was decided there was no unacceptable loss of residential amenity or road safety issues. The application was referred to Scottish Ministers due to an outstanding objection from SEPA. Scottish Ministers decided not to call-in the application. This area has suffered flooding in the past.
