Dave and I picked up Chris and Greg at BWI in Baltimore and headed to Catoctin for a few days of less stress, leaves, and campfires.
We all left temps in the mid-90s and arrived to temps in the high 50s. The night time temps have been in the 30s, so needless to say we enjoyed the fire, regardless of the time it took us to get any heat from the saturated wood.
Our first morning was spent huddled around the cool, smoky fire waiting for our Sumatran to perc.
Brrrr.
Thursday night we slept in a tiny cabin built by the WPA during the depression. A festival that swells the town of Thurmont from 5000, to 130,000, moved us out of our cozy cabin and into the tent for the second night.

Student accommodation block providing 148 beds in 124 units by Lanark Student Living, a private company based in Harrow. Originally planning was granted for 89 self-contained units. This private PBSA complex is next to the King's Buildings campus of the University of Edinburgh.
The structure is composed of prefabricated modular cells which are gradually being hoisted into postion using two yellow cranes. Design by Susan Stephens Architects (now 56three).

The development was stated to comply with the development plan, the council's guidance for Purpose Built Student Accommodation and design guidance. It was decided there was no unacceptable loss of residential amenity or road safety issues. The application was referred to Scottish Ministers due to an outstanding objection from SEPA. Scottish Ministers decided not to call-in the application. This area has suffered flooding in the past.
