The Royal Academy of Arts (RA) is an art institution based in Burlington House on Piccadilly in London. It has a unique position as an independent, privately funded institution led by eminent artists and architects; its purpose is to promote the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate.
Welshot Photography Academy #2
Further to yesterday’s post about the taster evening hosted by the Welshot Photography Academy, a company based in Llandudno, North Wales, I’d like to say a little more about the evening. I’d guessed, correctly, before I went, that it would be a sales event. Nevertheless, I did want to learn more about flash photography. Even though I didn’t really learn everything I’d hoped for, it wasn’t a wasted evening. There was a good turnout, though probably a fifth of the people I saw were from the Academy there to sell the company’s seminars and photography days. Today’s photos show a bit more than yesterday’s about the set-up. Other than the two models, there were stands to practice still life and macro photography. The sales intro in the photos took place about thirty minutes after I’d arrived and taken my photos. So, I left before the main events took place, having realised that I’ll probably find online what I want by way of training – what minimum equipment to buy and how to move on from TTL flash.
Lunenburg / Nova Scotia
The Lunenburg Academy is a historic school building located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Constructed in 1895 to replace a building that had been destroyed by fire, the academy operated as a school from 1895 until 2012, when the Town of Lunenburg took over the property. It was designated a National Historic Site in 1983 for its distinctive Second Empire architectural features and its illustration of Nova Scotia's education system in the 19th century. As of 2019, the building houses a library and music school, and restoration efforts are ongoing.

This is Bridge Academy building closer. I do not have proper lens to cath such huge building from the distance availble. So I would post a few. You can argue how beautiful this architecture is but it is really impressive when this giant six storey horseshoe appeares from nowwhere.
The school was opened in 2008 by the Secretary of Education who found the building very inspirational. I hope the pupils would agree. It is a part of the government program to give a refit to all schools in the UK by 2020. I hope the pupils would agree.It is designed for over 1000 students between 11 and 16. But it looks very empty. Apparently they had only the first intake. All of this is slightly strange as when i was searching the BBC apparently there is a shortage of school places in Hackney while this is still empty...
It was designed by BDP. There you can see fancy but interesting presentation. Though they confused the Grand Union and Regent's canal there. It cost £27 mln. I hope the kids would like it for that money;-)

Later became a Somali Pirate Hunter for the United States Navy, before taking a NAVY / NATO assignment for 3 years in Napoli.

St. George Academy is a historic school building located in St. George, Tucker County, West Virginia. Construction started in 1885 and finished in 1886, and is a two-story clapboard building with a projecting bay. It features a square tower with a peaked vent on each side and topped by a pyramidal roof with a spiked finial. In 1975–76, a new school was erected behind the old academy structure, and in 1982, the old school building was condemned by the state fire marshal and ordered to be razed or removed. It was moved to its present site in 1985 by the local historical society, and houses a local history museum.
Notes: a couple in an open roadster motor past the Woodford Academy on the Bathurst Road/Great Western Highway. The number 31 suggests a rally of some kind.
Format: gelatin silver print 20.5 cm x 15.5 cm
Date Range: undated, possibly 1950s, the road is in good condition and there may be faint visible transition zone from tar to gravel on the right and even a faint line marking on photo left. By 1939 the full length of the Great Western Highway was sealed and lined marked from Sydney to Bathurst, see link below.
Dating on the building and garden may be a better possibility. The tree, a large Snowy Mountains gum, is thought to have been a sickly specimen of a number of trees donated by the Canberra Nursery for schools to commemorate the opening of the first Parliament House in 1927. As a councillor of the Blue Mountains Shire council at the time, John McManamey is thought to have rescued the tree and planted it at his ‘School for Boys’ – the Woodford Academy. It appears in numerous photos of the academy, and could easily be 20-30 years old here.
Dating the car may or may not help if it's a veteran rally, unless the rally can be identified. A veteran car rally has been identified in the newspapers of the time, it ran from Sydney to Katoomba and return in March 1958, see comment box below; and there was apparently an earlier one in 1956 and others in 1959 and 1960 - nla.gov.au/nla.news-article101366965

The Academy of Athens (Greek: Ακαδημία Αθηνών, Akadimía Athinón) is Greece's national academy, and the highest research establishment in the country. It was established in 1926, and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The Academy's main building is one of the major landmarks of Athens.

The flag is at half staff for Capt. Pedersen-Keel, 28, a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was recently killed by a member of the Afghan National Police while conducting a patrol brief in the Jalrez District.

The original school, Hand Academy, was gifted from Daniel Hand in 1884. Learn more about him at madisonhistory.org/daniel-hand/. It became a public high school in 1887. The original school building was demolished and replaced with the current building in 1921. The school was closed in 2004 and transferred to the Town of Madison in 2011.
