(Los Angeles, California) - I noticed two garbage trucks as I was waiting to cross this street in downtown LA. I quickly set up and fired off a 30 second exposure without composing much as the first one passed. Naturally I was off quite a bit. I wanted the vanishing point to the right as the streaks disappeared down the street. I wanted the top of that building. But the streaks were so nice and juicy and of course no more garbage trucks showed up as I sat on the pavement behind the traffic light with the perfectly composed shot and wireless trigger in hand (probably looking like a homeless fellow). In the end I gave up.
A photograph taken last August, of a husband and wife, priest and educator, who are interred in the cemetery on the grounds of the University of the South, Sewamee, Tennessee.

A Arte Nativa Aplicada fez parte de um movimento para a construção do moderno desenho nacional, em suas formas e cores, na preservação de valores regionais e da identidade brasileira, tornando-os universais. Proposta em 1976 por Maria Henriqueta Gomes, a marca nasceu da necessidade de cultivar o design nacional. A experiência pioneira iniciou com acessórios de moda e mais tarde diversificou sua produção voltadas para tecidos para decoração e acessórios para casa e mesa.
Como fontes de inspiração estão as produções artísticas de diversas tribos indígenas, as contribuições do negro, do português, do imigrante, assim como a fauna e flora brasileiras. Mesmo com forte apelo indianista, a marca não se fechou para temas étnicos ou ecológicos. O estilo pós-moderno Memphis, da década de 80, e o visual cosmopolita das grandes cidades foram temas de coleções, desenvolvidas pela estilista Rafaella Perucchi e pelo artista gráfico e grafiteiro Alex Vallauri, respectivamente.
Sob a coordenação de sua criadora, Maria Henriqueta, e depois por sua filha, Elisa Gomes, o trabalho de padronagem da Arte Nativa Aplicada foi desenvolvido por designers experientes, como Celso Lima, Circe Bernardes, Débora Baldaconi Ewbank, Ester Grinspum, Fernando Penteado Millan, Heloisa Crocco, João de Souza Leite, José Lancellotti, Manuel Guglielmo, May Suplicy, Raffaellla Perucchi, Renata Tassinari Binnie, Valéria Mendonça e Yvonne Rigobello.
Nesta reedição, a Donatelli Tecidos que comemora os 76 anos de existência, resgata a singularidade e riqueza da cultura material brasileira e promove os valores do design verde e amarelo.

Okay so we didn't hit the library today. We went to Toys R Us. I wanted to go yesterday, but Monica talked me out of it in favor for Target. I wanted to get the CAM Bee because I knew they had two of them... but when I got there OMGOMGOMGOMGO THEY HAD THREE CUPIDS!!! I never thought I would actually see her in a store! When I came upon the first cupid on accident I almost screamed like how I screamed when I saw Mango. I JUMPED TO BUY ONE! I FINALLY OWN A MONSTER HIGH DOLL.

lorena_in_syd: @flowerpress are these yellow tomatoes? So far my Roma and cherries are ok. One Don Burke tom is hardly worth keeping. The one next to it has few fruit but no pests. Yellow pear look really healthy and pest free when suddenly I spot fruit with holes burrowed into them 😤
flowerpress: @lorena_in_syd these are self sown but I think they might be yellow, I was hoping they might be more resistant, have green zebra and yellow pear planted for the same reason but no fruit yet. Romas are always better for me but not bulletproof. It's such a pity isn't it!
lorena_in_syd: @flowerpress I've been told to try an organic pesticide or chilli/ garlic. I hear the fly traps work well. I may make some tomorrow. It's a total PITA. Another crop which seems to be a pest magnet is bok choy.

kat900: Yes! I still have some. Might dilute it a little more and see what happens. Hopefully the poor plants have forgotten the torture of last year...
Fmr. Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Freight House; Built 1887; Ephraim Francis Baldwin, architect. In the early 1980s, the original station and freight house were moved 160 feet south of their original site to build the current Rockville MARC and Metrorail stations. As of 2021, the Freight House has been converted into office space.

春の発表会が震災の影響で延期になったため短い稽古期間しかありませんでしたが、みながんばって舞台に臨みました。

Glossa - hier ist die Welt noch in Ordnung.
Der wunderschöne Ort Glossa auf Skopelos blickt auf eine über 4000 jährige Geschichte zurück. Hier wurden wundervolle Statuen die auf das Jahr 600 v.Chr. datiert sind gefunden. Bunte Blumen in allen Farben und überall, die Fenster und Türen in allen erdenklichen Farben angemalt und herzliche freundliche Einwohner die immer Lächeln auf den Lippen haben. In Glossa geht es beschaulich und ruhig zu. Griechenland von seiner schönsten Seite. Die Männer sitzen im Cafenion vor der Kirche, die Frauen häkeln auf einem Stuhl vor dem Haus sitzend und die Kinder spielen in den verwundenen, einem Irrgarten gleichenden Gassen. In Glossa kann man nicht mit dem Auto fahren da die Gassen und Häuser so alt sind und früher wie heute benötigte Güter mit dem Esel nach Hause transportiert werden. Wundern sie sich also nicht wenn mal ein mit Steinen bepackter Esel an ihnen vorbei läuft. Er ist auf dem Weg zur Baustelle und schafft jeden Stein einzeln heran!
Das Dorf Glossa auf der Insel Skopelos hatte das riesige Glück (es grenzt an ein Wunder) das große Erdbeben von Skopelos 1965 nahezu unbeschadet überstanden zu haben. Die meisten Häuser die sie heute sehen entstanden schon während des Osmanischen Reiches. Die typischen Holzbalkone mit Toilette sind ein unverkennbares Zeichen dieses Einflusses.
Glossa ist mit rund 600 Einwohnern der zweitgrößte Ort der Insel Skopelos und liegt wunderschön eingebettet oberhalb von Loutraki. In Loutraki befindet sich neben Skopelos Stadt der zweite Hafen (Loutraki Harbor) der Insel Skopelos welcher auch bei Seglern sehr beliebt ist.
In Glossa gibt es neben einem Arzt auch eine Apotheke, eine Bäckerei, eine tradionelle Bäckerei, eine Tankstelle, einen Mofaverleih, diverse Souveniergeschäfte, ein Künstlergeschäft mit wunderschönen Handgemalten Bilder und anderen Werken und vieles mehr. Verschaffen sie sich auf der rechten Seite einen Überblick über die Shops in Glossa. Eines der Highlights von Glossa ist das Restaurant Agnanti mit atemberaubender Aussicht. Wenn sie es traditionell mögen empfehlen wir ihnen einen Besuch bei Mastora to Steki oder bei Ilias Souvlaki Bar am Souvlakiplatz. Bei letzteren beiden Tavernen trifft sich auch die gesamte Dorfgemeinschaft. Die Preise sind günstig und das Essen hervorragend.
Bitte beachten sie bei Anreise mit dem Auto das die Gassen von Glossa aufgrund der uralten Bauweise nicht befahren werden können. Wir empfehlen ihnen den Parkplatz gegenüber der Tankstelle in Glossa zu benutzen.
