Mamiya NC1000s

In captioning my snapshots I usually eschew such Star Trekkie sounding lingo (the show had a wonderful penchant for the invention of awesomely scientific sounding phrases which actually meant absolutely nothing)

However, here I was, looking up at the Zenith (the sky point directly overhead), this is a (geo)magnetic phenomena, and, of course, the Earth's magnetic field is resonating from the impact of electrical particles launched from the sun ......

Did this thing. Sawed the elbow nugget in half, inserted a piece of copper pipe inside and done: the joint rotates!

Now I'll need to figure out what to do to the legs and Iria will be even better. Though, I might not do anything at all.

*explore-october 26, 2008. thank you all very much for the views, comments and faves.*

spotted this weather condition while outside getting some air. i shot this at noon when the sun was at it's zenith with cloudy skies leading to the heavy rains on the horizon. i just think it's quite interesting to see how nature works up a storm =)

this image was manually blended with 3 exposures and a hdr layer all sandwiched together in photoshop. hope ya all likes. have a great rest of the weekend!

Here's what it is possible to capture by pointing a camera at the Zenith in early August each year. I took this photo in August 2022 with a total exposure of 1 hour 40 minutes at ISO 1600. The red nebulosity is the signature of hydrogen (H-alpha spectral line). Nièvre. Bortle 2. Canon camera, 20 mm lens at F 3.2

Instruments

Shoot anything saterday

I know this instrument has seen better days. Lots and lots of salt water demanded its tol. Years on end this instrument helped us to identify ships, find buoys, spot marks to plot our route, explore port entrances, and so on. Nowadays with electronic maps, gps, ais, etc. the life of binoculars at sea is much easier.

A gloomy Saturday from Zenith Beach in Shoal Bay. It started as a promising set of clouds with a potential due to some break but was covered almost immediately because of fast moving low clouds.

"Zenith"

Found on the shelf in a coffee shop. Photographed with a ZTE Zpad 10.1" tablet and post-processed in PSP16 and Topaz.

Old general store, Zenith, WV.

Zenith Beach, Nelson Bay.

Not long after taking this shot the rain absolutely bucketed down, guess with those clouds we should have seen it coming.

Milky Way Zenith (directly overhead) in a Bortle class 2 sky... ie: very dark! Alma, New Brunswick, Canada! So many stars it's difficult to make out the constellations. Although the Summer Triangle is easy to spot. Amazing to see all the detail in the Great Rift (the dust that blocks the view of many of the stars in the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way). This is made up of 12 - 15 second exposures median stacked in Photoshop. ISO 8,000, 15mm f2.8. Nikon D850.

A Zenith Color TV sign looking almost new in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania.

The best way to watch classic TV shows is on an old console TV. This was my parent's last console, a Zenith from the early 1990s. It now resides in my house.
