Youth Protests in the Middle East and Europe. Das Willy Brandt Center Jerusalem hat eingeladen zur Jahreskonferenz 2011. Sie stand in diesem Jahr ganz unter dem Zeichen der Jugendproteste im Nahen Osten und darüber hinaus.

It’s my passion to create stories and bring back pictures of events, people and places that are rarely seen. It’s a combination of exploration, exposition and artistry that together create a life of adventure and excitement.
In my work it is imperative for me that information be accurate and the images must be respectful of the subject and viewer. My goal is to combine creativity with practicality to capture the best possible images to document events, tell a story, meet the picture editor's deadlines.

“Zeichen ohne Ziel” – Eine Beobachtung über „Tags“ im Graffiti

Das Bedürfnis, die eigene Lebenszeit bzw. Präsenz an einem Ort zu überdauern, existiert seit Beginn der Menschheit. Angefangen bei Höhlenmalereien und Hyroglyphen in ägytischen Pyramiden lassen sich diverse Beispiele aufführen. Der Vortrag hingegen widmet der Entwicklung der illegalen Verbreitung eines Codes, durch zunächst simple einfarbige Schriftzüge (Tags), die ab mitte des 20. Jahrhundert einsetzte. Dabei steht das Tag nicht als Vorstufe zum Bild (oder Piece) sondern definiert sich als autonomes Medium der schnellen kompromisslosen Aneignung des öffentlichen Raumes. Es steht ästhetisch auch für eine hohe Szeneimmanenz, eröffnet aber durch seine Destruktivität zugleich eine poetische Ebene. Auch soll es darum gehen, die globalen Unterschiede dieser Form von Graffiti aufzuzeigen und den Blick über das klassische Graffitimilieu hinaus zu tragen zu den Besetzungsstrategien anderer Gruppen, wie Gangs oder Fussballfans (Ultras).
