The tengu is a yokai or traditional Japanese Shinto spirit. It was originally a sort of monkey-bird hybrid creature, but most modern representations are much more human looking. His most distinguishing characteristic, besides his bright red face, is his excessively long nose, which was once thought to be a bird’s beak, but nowadays looks more like something else . . .
He was originally considered an evil spirit, but his image has softened over the centuries, and he is now looked as a more benevolent protector of the forest.

Japanese legend has it that in the 1800s a 'yokai' - a type of demon - appeared off the coast of Kumamoto, described as a mermaid-like creature with long hair, a beak and 3 legs. It predicted bountiful harvests and, before disappearing again, told the locals “If an epidemic occurs, draw a picture of me and show it to everyone,” and it will save them.

Oni are a kind of yōkai from Japanese folklore, variously translated as demons, devils, ogres or trolls.

El Rokurokubi es un yōkai que se encuentra en el folclore japonés. Durante el día parecen seres humanos normales, pero por la noche adquieren la habilidad de estirar su cuello a grandes longitudes como una serpiente. También puede cambiar su rostro al de un espantoso oni (ogro japonés), para asustar mas a los mortales.

With each of its nine tails, the Yako Slizer embodies a different element of the Planet Slizer. Equipped with powerful arms, hidden rocket pods in its legs, and nine throwing arms, the Yako Slizer is a threatening force that combines Yokai legends and folklore with raw mechanical power.
I bought too many Throwbot arms. This is another one of my MOCs that basically boils down to "let's shove two unrelated things together and see what happens." In this case, I combined the concept of a Nine-tailed fox with the old Throwbot line. I've been wanting to do a Kitsune themed character for a while, and I have been wanting (and encouraged) to do another Slizer build after old Dusty in 2016, so I did both. This guy is weird, but his articulation is pretty good. He uses a lot of building techniques I have never used before. He was a bit of a pain to photograph because he's pretty darn big. I'm happy with how he turned out.
