The kitsune - or fox. A supernatural animal known for its shapeshifting abilities. It can take on human form but is not necessarily malevolent.
a yōkai that appeared in Toriyama Sekien's Gazu Hyakki Yakō. It is drawn as a beast with clawed hands and a hairy face, with most of its body hidden in a black cloud over a floodgate. In its open mouth is a large tongue.
...because I loathe them and refuse to draw one, instead I drew a Baka Kujira; a yōkai that takes the form of an animated whale skeleton.

There are statues of Yokai (supernatural creature) in Tokyo Memorial Hall. This bird-like-thing on the roof is one of them. It is said that the architect Ito Chuta loved Yokai very much.
When I saw the statue, my first thought was that this must be created by "the Deep Ones" of Cthulhu myths. The hall was built in 1930, when H. P. Lovecraft was writing the Cthulhu myths in US. Interesting.

Kappa Yokai by Horimatsu Bunshin! Horimatsu uses a traditional form of hand shading called "tebori" results are super solid, bright colours which seem to get better with age as well as many reports of less trauma to the skin.
