Never sure what to do with yellow and greens. The flash glare off the back petals didn't help with this one. I do like the details in the eyes though :)

Channeling my inner witch with a touch of glamour ✨ Spooky vibes, lace, and a dash of magic for this Halloween season. Ready to cast some cute, yet creepy spells under the blood-red moon! 🔮🎃

I was VERY excited to find two Northern Red Salamanders! Neither were red yet but hopefully I will find them again in the future after they grow up.

As autumn wanes rapidly, it isn't quite done yet, nor am I. And have a fence for you as well.

... you know those damn 'last minute submissions'?

One of my attempts at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "Flora Selective Focus".

Shot with a Carl Zeiss "S-Planar 120 mm F 5.6" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Yet another panorama, I might keep the trend of this for a few more days. Himare, Albania, watching the sunset while being devoured by tiny mosquitoes, fortunately these weren't the kind that leave itchy scars that last for weeks like the ones in the tropics.

Yet another division of property. I see that some green escaped to the other side. I have been finding all kinds of fences lately.

Happy Fence Friday.

Yet another or perhaps the same Anna's hummingbird flying through the yard.

Another one from this series - for as long as I don't edit the new set of pictures. Lately I'm lacking the energy to process the new things. Still at work and under pressure. But I like these pictures anyway...

Tall enough to stand above the moss

Another of my "twindows" (twin windows) portraits. Have fun, as I did, wondering why and when the wall was patched around the windows in various ways. The brick arch above the right window is particularly puzzling. Weil-Am-Rhein DE, near Basel CH. In my set, Dan's Windows.

The landscape may not be turning green yet, but there's one sure sign of spring here - a ballast train!

CP 6241 and CP 6306 lead two GREX conveyor train sets south over a classic truss bridge approaching Marquette, IA. This curve across the floodplain of the Yellow River and the Mississippi Backwater slough is below the bluffs Effigy Mounds National Monument, on the ridge in the background. The crew, running under the symbol BAL-05, has been battling a bit of congestion this morning around Harpers Ferry, but is finally getting to run out the last few miles for a crew change ahead at the depot. The former SOO SD60 duo sure brings a nice pop of color to the otherwise dull early April landscape. I’ve always liked this bridge but the ground view has always felt like it could use a slight bit of elevation. I don’t shoot “wide” with the drone as much anymore (I prefer the far-less-distorted 3x tele of the Air3 more often lately) but this scene and height seemed to suit.

A little more of the story for those that care:

The CKPC has started the annual warm-weather blitz of loads out of the pit at Waterloo, WI which supplies rock for many of the former ICE (nee-Milwaukee Road) lines into Iowa. And thankfully for us railfans anyway, these trains seem to be some of the last holdouts for some of the EMD SD products still getting to regularly run the mainline. So on this sunny beautiful Sunday morning, when I heard the CP 6241 get a warrant out of Bluff (La Crescent, MN) for a run down the river, I drove north to meet them.

The BAL-05 had a good run to Harpers Ferry, but then was stalled out by traffic ahead. There were at least 7 trains within about 25 miles of Marquette at one point for a couple hours: 4 trying to go south, two trying to come up from Dubuque and turn the corner towards Mason City, and one poor northbound that got hosed at Harpers Ferry for quite a while.

The CP Marquette Subdivision from Marquette to Bluff is one of the last bits of track that’s still under Track Warrant Control on this now-critical link between Davenport (Nahant) and St. Paul (there are a couple others, but CTC has been installed most of the way now), so the first trick DS was quite busy trying to keep on top of issuing and canceling warrants to keep everybody moving. It sometimes got a little messy (there was a shove move up a different leg of the wye in Marquette required at one point to make a meet work…). But trains eventually got to where they were supposed to be going! And since this BAL-05 was also following a slower train ahead, it allowed me to get 10 separate runbys over the course of the afternoon of this fine duo. A good early spring day even if it was still the "brown season!"

Nearly full moon creates a scene illuminated by reflected light, add in a spot light for fill light, and you get fun..bnsf 632 a new addition to the Minot area…

Yet another in what feels like a steady stream of cherry-red SD70ACUs, (not that I'm complaining!) CP 7037 in this case, leads an SD60 westward on the "Cut-Off" through downtown Milwaukee with a junk freight bypassing Muskego Yard. In what should be a few years, this line will be bereft of almost all freight traffic, as CP constructs a new double-track main through Muskego Yard itself, reducing conflicts with Amtrak traffic on the "Cut-Off".

Getting tired of enduring this pain...

NOT THERE YET

Yet another dreadful depressing grey day. It's about now I start to feel we will never see blue sky again. Oh well, it could have been worse, I could have gone down to the beach. There you get grey sky, grey water, grey sand, and to top it off a grey parking lot. Out here at least there is a good bit of mucky brown mud to off set the grey. You see, there is a bright side to everything.

This was another one of those days where the weather just wouldn't play ball. Great, fast moving clouds that I knew would create a really atmospheric, long exposure image. But my progress was hampered by squally rain showers that regularly peppered me just as I was set up and ready to shoot. Fortunately, there was a break in the showers that was long enough for me to get a couple of compositions in the bag. Having to work quickly is not something I like to do but nonetheless, I am pleased with the images I got of Cullen Bay in Morayshire, Scotland.

Okay, I am not going to offer any clues yet, let's see if anyone can guess with reasonable accuracy what this is. Derek, you should get this one!

Spring is sort of here in Canada, but it takes awhile to really become evident. There is nothing growing yet in my forlorn garden. But when I saw this photo of a Grape Hyacinths (Muscari) in my folder, I decided to post it.

I took this photo two years ago with my macro lens. I still have the lens but haven't, so far at least, found a whole lot of joy in macro photography. This is most likely because I am not very good at it. But when I looked back, I did decide that I rather like this image.

Thank you for all the comments. I read all of them with pleasure.

Yet another reason why the 50th storey skybridge at The Pinnacle@Duxton public housing development is a great place for shots is the unblocked view of the Tanjong Pagar skyline. One could virtually see all the way to Raffles Place, as seen by the UOB Plaza and OCBC Centre on the left.

Still not ready. Now I have used charcoal pencils, ink, water color and eraser (not so much this time)

Yet another beautiful sunset over our abode.
