But I am sure that spring will come this year too.
At yet another birthday party with the kids this past weekend, at Quassy amusement park located on Lake Quassapaug. The kiddie park area, where I inevitably spend most of my time, is separated from the water by only a fence. So of course, with the sun setting, my attention is being torn by this lovely sunset glittering on the water...and like usual, I feel like I'm the only one noticing the beauty.
I took some shots, but this time for kicks, I tried a few shots in sunset mode, which is something I very rarely use because I don't like the result. It seems to take away the colors and adds an almost sepia tone...maybe because it's an older camera, I don't know. But I actually like the result here, giving everything an amber glow...reminding me of tiger-eye contrasting with the dark areas.
Have a wonderful day, my friends :-)
A weed - A very bad one at that, but yet so pretty ^.^

CPKC is really pushing the limits of their mainline in the Mississippi River floodwaters in downtown Davenport, IA as an empty ballast train heads north with KCS 3967 and KCS 4405.
Another northbound would follow the ballast train 1.5 hours later and the mainline will possibly shut down yet today with floodgates closing at Waterworks.

Nah, not yet.
It's the edge of a pocket on a pair of my old blue jeans. I wouldn't wear them in public, but they're comfy, and they're still fine for wearing around the house. That way, I don't wear out my good jeans any faster than I have to; blue jeans don't last as long as they used to. The stitching is usually fine, as you see here, but the fabric develops holes...

The winter and the cold wave came to Switzerland.
With this picture I did not make it easy for me. At first I really could not decide which photo to put on flickr. I wrestled with myself, because I would like to present the most beautiful photo for my friends here. Secondly, the picture was made under very difficult external conditions, because it was really "bitterly cold". I could barely touch my hands after photographing and yet I wanted to get a nice photo of these beautiful ice crystals. I succeeded, more or less, because the background was not ideal for that. In addition, my faithful friend Roco had to wait for me and there I no longer want to start one try after another. This time I did not want to make any compromises with the warm colors of the picture, because the cold should be very touchable. I believe this has succeeded with this picture. I am fascinated by this "little work of art". Each little detail is a miracle of creation, because it was shaped by the elements of nature and radiates its brilliance as long as this nature allows.
I am grateful for these little things without which life would not be so beautiful and interesting.
Rejoice over the elements of nature.
Erwin
I thank you all for the interest and enthusiasm for my work here. I am happy about every comment from you and every time you like my pictures. Thank you very much for all the favorites and for watching my photos.
Small supplement of today:
The winter has caught up with me too, for I am terribly cold. Nevertheless, or just because of this, I am looking forward to every single word from you. Also, I always see in the little things, which makes the importance and beauty of life. Wish all of you a blessed time, without illness and with much love and joy. Hope you can all be in a nice warm place, because outside it is extremely cold here. Brrrrrr .....
....first there was darkness till i created the night, first there was darkness and darkness was right. darkness is moving into the light...

Another Friendship Valley Music Festival in the books. Few places or moments encapsulate the word Friendship any where on the grid. It's been a crazy last year and half and yet through the ups and downs we celebrated, laughed and sung together. It's what we do and it's who we are. I think I have a beer left and I raise it to you all. CHEERS till next time!

i miei primi scatti con la nuova canon:)
Wandering through a forest in Tahiti and came upon a pond full of lilies and lush foliage.
Sometimes when I pass a pond of water full of lilies and logs I don't look underneath the surface, yet here there are sweet reflections and clear water and lots of layers of life :)
Great Blue Heron
This vantage point situated the heron at the head of a lake giving it a clear view of any potential meals.

Tofu enjoys every sunny moment in his garden, especially at this time of year when it's not too hot yet and when the garden his filled with colours and scents.
Poinsettias.
Poinsettias are part of the Euphorbiaceae or Spurge family. Botanically, the plant is known as Euphorbia pulcherrima.
Many plants in the Euphorbiaceae family ooze a milky sap. Some people with latex allergies have had a skin reaction (most likely to the sap) after touching the leaves. For pets, the poinsettia sap may cause mild irritation or nausea. Probably best to keep pets away from the plant, especially puppies and kittens.
Poinsettias are not poisonous. A study at Ohio State University showed that a 50-pound child would have to eat more than 500 leaves to have any harmful effect. Plus poinsettia leaves have an awful taste. You might want to keep your pets from snacking on poinsettia leaves. Eating the leaves can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
The showy colored parts of poinsettias that most people think of as the flowers are actually colored bracts (modified leaves).
Poinsettias have also been called the lobster flower and the flame-leaf flower, due to the red color.
December 12th is Poinsettia Day, which marks the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett in 1851.
In Mexico, the Poinsettia is displayed in celebration of the "Dia de la Virgen", which is also coincidentally, December 12th.
The Aztecs used the Poinsettia bracts to make a reddish purple dye for fabrics, and used the sap medicinally to control fevers.
The most photographed building in Australia. Unfortunately I wasn’t in the Hyatt enjoying this view but outside getting a little damp.
Steel-blue Sawfly (Perga dorsalis)
One that is definitely in range here in Melbourne, I have just never seen one before.
Sawflies are insects related to wasps, but they lack the typical narrow 'waist' of wasps.
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

"I'd rather be a lover than a fighter, 'cause all my life i've been fighting.
Never felt a feeling of comfort, all this time I've been hiding.
I'm in need of a savior, but i'm not asking for favors, my whole life i've felt like a burden... I think so much and i hate it..
I'm tired of caring..."

It has been a long time to not see you. Around seven years and you came to my life again. Still want to carry me with you?
You took my life and happiness during the days it supposed to be happy. Now why you're back?
Thanks for rememberme the nightmare of being in the hole.
I can just give you three of my days but not all me...not yet.
I spent a lovely morning wandering around Nymans gardens on Sunday, appreciating the cooler breeze. A lot of the flowers weren't too happy with the heatwave, but this Hydrangea was in the shade. Lensbaby Sol 22 with blades set to diagonal and using a +4 close up filter.
