XLProjects took part in Breakbulk Americas 2012 in Houston, Texas. We met with loads of old friends and new alike. It is always interesting to see who shows up, what they have done over the past year and what is going on with them today. Building a project logistics community is what XLProjects is all about. Houston was a great visit!

XLProjects is the newest, most dynamic, projects only logistics network in the world! We are extremely excited about the future of project forwarding and are working hard to make our mark in this industry.

CEA Projects recently moved 2 Catamarans on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand’s Gulf Coast. One from the water to factory for repair and another brand new Cat from factory to the sea. The 1st Cat was 22m x 11m x 6m weighing 25tons while the 2nd working vessel was 20m x 8 x 6.5m weighing 35tons. While the 2 owners of the vessels are not related it just worked out to be perfect timing as both of the vessels needed to be moved so the owners got together working with CEA to split the Civil works which required leveling out the beach for shoring and launching, laying of steel plates so the 10 axle line hydraulic trailer and prime mover wouldn’t sink in the sand.

The 1st Cat – a sailing Cat didn’t have any engines and was positioned and beached using several zodiacs under rough conditions of 1.5m swells and 30 knot winds at high tide. When the tide receded, the steel plates were covered with sand and CEA’s team got to work quickly to get it clear so the trailer could be put into position.

The following day the new Cat was brought from the factory and laid down on sandbags at low tide. The steel plates were brought up and on lookers including the vessel owner, the manufacturers, CEA staff and tourists and locals alike waiting for high tide to roll in and bring the vessel out to sea.

All operations ran smoothly and everyone involved were very pleased with the safe and efficient movement of both Cats by CEA Projects based in Laem Chabang, Thailand.

CEA Project Logistics has become very well known as the company to call when it comes to launching Catamarans on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand. Recently CEA launched a USD 2 Million Dollar Luxury 32 ton Catamaran using their 10 axle line hydraulic trailer and 2 x 65t mobile cranes. CEA had plenty of Modulift Spreader Bars and soft slings on hand to carry out the lift safely.

A smaller vessel known as the Gecko was launched a few weeks later and there are now 2 other Catamarans that will be launched before the New Year

It stands just over 12 foot tall. Weighs in at 80,000 lbs. and 48 feet long. It would strike fear into the hearts of most, but for IFT it was just another easy shipment. In the early part of August IFT handled a RO/RO shipment of a Link-Belt HSP-8050 crane from Utah to Lat Krabang, Thailand. Located 30 km from downtown Bankok, the Lat Krabang Inland Container Depot (LICD) is a 200 acre facility in the important manufacturing and consumption center of Thailand. It is linked to the port of Laem Chabang by both road and rail systems and acts as a custom clearance facility with government agencies on site.

XLProjects and Project Cargo Nexus successfully completed a joint meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, in November, 2013. The meeting was held in the Hilton Cape Town City Centre over a three day period. We had a very industrious time with the one-on-one meetings over a day-and-a-half. We kicked the event off with a welcome reception on the pool deck of the Hilton and on the first morning we got the meeting started with presentations given by Safmarine MPV, Antwerp Breakbulk Agencies, Sarens South Africa and Advanced International Networks. We also took time to enjoy a lovely dinner at the Simonsig wine estate in Stellenbosch which was greatly enjoyed by one and all.
