Imagine a special room where you need to crawl to enter, where you can scribble on the walls and dismantle the furniture because they're like large pieces of lego blocks! That's The Writers' Room, which is a brand new, unique space for students of the Diploma in Creative Writing for TV and New Media (DTVM) at SP's School of Communication, Arts and Social Sciences.

Here's an example of what Share Our Strength looked like ten years ago. This webpage is from our old web 1.0 website, and the screenshot is taken from way back in 1998.

Writers Harvest is a book program that we used to do on a regular basis, and one of the Share Our Strength platforms that I'm currently trying to get reimplemented. Of course, if I succeed, I have a feeling the website won't look quite like that anymore.

Simple little mitts. I call them writer's mitts because they have no fingers and no thumb at all, for ease of finger movement. I found that other fingerless mitts always have a partial thumb and it seemed a bit annoying when you're trying to type without being held back but your hands get cold.

So these are simple 1x1 ribbing knit circularly. I think I cast on about 54 stitches, joined them (without twisting!) and knit in the round for awhile. When you get to where you need the thumb hole to start you insert the hole by beginning to knit back and forth for the length you want the thumbhole to be, then go back to knitting in the round when the hole is long enough to fit your thumb through comfortably. I added an edging of single crochet on these around the thumbhole when I was done to give it a nicer finish. Quite simple, and the yarn is really what makes them cool. Takes about 25 grams or less of yarn (less than half a skein) in my experience.

Young Writers division winner, Eve Bain accepts her award from Mayor Penny Webster. Judge Lorraine Orman said "The winning story grabbed me with the very first line. I instantly wanted to know who this narrator is."

I've tried to express the anxiety of getting past that block. I used this in the "Writer's Mind," posted today as well.
