Under proposed laws to be introduced by the Baillieu Victorian State Government swearing in public places - such as this sign - could be deemed offensive by the police and an on the spot fine of $240 issued. The police are being given the duty of arbiters of public morality. More info see the Age Big fines for those who cry foul.
So who is the greater criminal, this young woman with her sign or the large companies that have been allowed to freely pollute with no regulation to date by the Government and argue against a carbon tax. Which is more offensive to public morality? A State Government that retreats on climate policy or a citizen exercising free speech to get a message across?
According to Robert Layng, a Foreign Service Officer at USAID who has taken a leading role in USAID’s support to WWF and the government of Mozambique, attracting private investment into the tourism sector is central to ensuring that the Reserve realizes its potential to create economic opportunity. “The end goal is to ensure financial sustainability of the reserve, Targeted growth in the tourism sector is one of the best prospects for generating revenue for the reserve. The Tourism sector also creates jobs on Lake Niassa and highlights the economic value of protecting the lake while also providing revenue from sustainable resource use”, said Mr. Layng.

I live In the heart of Atlanta next to the Old Fourth Ward Pond. Every day I see something different: new flowers, bees pollinating, turtles bathing on rocks, ducks, goslings, an egret. I am so happy to have a tiny slice of nature on my city doorstep.
2 June 2013. Abu Shouk: Senior Hydro-geologist Saleem Abdulaziz, from the Groundwater and Wadis Directorate in the Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation and focal point of the Integrate Water Resources Management, monitors the water consumption in a water tank in Al Salam camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP), North Darfur.
Al Salam is one of the main priorities in North Darfur to implement projects on water due to the difficult terrain to find and keep the water and due to the big number of IDPs (more than 50,000) who use the water for domestic purposes and economical activities (like bricks fabrication).
The average of water consumption in the IDP camps in North Darfur is around ten liters per person a day.
Disputes over scarce water resources have been cited regularly as one of the root causes of the conflict in Darfur.

In connection with the success of Wings of Qatar, the exhibition which we had conducted during the Qatar Environment Day at Hyatt Plaza a couple of months ago, we got recognition and appreciation from many nature lovers and media.
As a result, we got many queries to conduct Wings of Qatar again in different places. We got an offer from RasGas to carry out an exhibition in connection with World Environment Day for their staff and family. We have conducted the first phase at RasGas Tower during 6th to 8th of June and June 10-12 at Al-Khor Community.
As you can guess, it’s a great recognition for us and we have sticked with our commitment towards quality, as we do always. Last time we displayed about 80 images and we have increased the number to one hundred and four.
Also, keep in mind that this is just a beginning of some great triumphs DK plans to grab including a web site for Wings of Qatar and ultimately a reference book of Birds of Qatar.
Wings of Qatar is not just a photographic exhibition, but the one and only brand for bird photography in Qatar.

Dedicated for safe, pollution free, eco-friendly,green environment on the occassion of World Environment Day.
Being a student of ecology and environmental sciences from one of the prestigious universities of the country, I wonder why can all the days be celebrated as June 5th. A step , if taken by me, another step by you and other step by someone else will make a slight difference for sure and summation of all these delta differences when counted with make a big difference like a tiny cloud makes a huge heavy cloud, drop by drop rains make that big ocean...!!
So, lets take a step ahead to make our environment clean, safe and more green, moreover pollution -free and eco-friendly so that we and our "co-creatures dwell happily for ever like a fairy tale story ending.
Wishing all a greener environ , a healthy and more biodiversed environment..!!
Sloganising the fact "Go Greener"!!
For World Environment Day 2015 I joined a group going up into the Victorian Central Highlands to look at the old growth forests, home to the critically endangered Leadbeater's Possum as well as being a unique ecosystem and a catchment area for Melbourne's water supply.
Tragically the area is being logged, with the vast majority (93%) going to low grade wood pulp or wood chip and less than 1% going to quality hardwood. The loggers claim that they are doing sustainable logging, but they are only replacing the Mountain Ash trees that they value, not the whole unique and diverse ecosystem.
Our hosts told the story through art, song and storytelling, including a very cold looking (and large) possum. They are working on protecting the forest by creating a Central Highlands National Park, which will generate more jobs through tourism than will be lost when logging stops (about 100 jobs)

World Environment Day 2009
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5 June in more than 100 countries. The theme for 2009 is climate change and the broader consequences of environmental change, and what societies can do in response.
Combating climate change and preserving ecosystems services that underpin our economies is an issue for everyone. Every individual's efforts, no matter how small, can contribute to the sustainable development of our economies and communities around the world. (Unesco)
Also on the June 5, the film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, HOME (Yann Arthus-Bertrand) will be released in over 50 countries in the world, and will be available in various medias (cinema, TV, internet, DVD)...
Synopsis : In 200.000 years on Earth humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion yeas of evolution. The price of pay is high, but it's too late to be a pessimist : humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.

World Environment Day (similar to earth day) is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness and appreciation of nature's gift.
For more than a decade, USAID partnership with Tanzanians has built livelihoods and managed natural resources by developing and implementing national environmental policies and supporting community-based conservation. USAID’s sustainable landscape approach targets critical ecosystems to sustain wildlife habitats, reverse land degradation, restore watersheds and improve community livelihoods through conservation enterprises. Activities also target sustainable agriculture and agroforestry, trade and private sector initiatives.

This world is too beautiful to be destroyed for our daily needs !!
On this World Environment day, I pledge to :
- Check and fix all leaking taps and pipes in my home.
- Avoid all electricity wastage by:
o Switch off electrical appliances when not in active use
o Put mobile/battery chargers off the plug point and not to leave appliances in standby mode to save the electricity from "vampire power".
o Switch off computer mointors at home/office when not in use.
- Avoid using vehicles when I can walk.
- Reduce usage of papers.
- Create awareness about conserving environment in people around me.
Conserve or Perish ... we are left with only two options now !!
Share your ideas/plans/actions for saving our Earth on this Environment day.

On World Environment Day locals gather on a wintery Monday morning to tell Josh Frydenberg that they want Australia to move rapidly to solar, wind and storage and actually reduce our emissions, not just see the Paris Agreement as some kind of diplomacy bargaining chip.
The CEFC Board is up for renewal, and Finkel seems likely to only deliver a gas promoting LET not a real transition. With continued posturing on the "gas crisis" (when there is a global gas glut) and "clean coal", constituents are not happy with public funding being diverted from clean energy back to coal and gas. As Australia's emissions continue to climb its a big FAIL on #WorldEnvironmentDay
Josh Frydenberg needs to step up and stop the Adani Carmichael coal mine from being developed as it is inconsistent with Australia's ratification and commitments under the 2015 Paris Agreement to keep temperatures well below 2C temperature target. 95 per cent of Australia's coal must remain unexploited to be consistent with limiting temperatures to 2C according to a 2015 peer reviewed study by Ekins and McGlade
If all of the Galilee Basin coal was burned, it is estimated that 705 million tonnes of carbon dioxide would be released each year – more than 1.3 times Australia’s current annual emissions. If all Galilee coal mines go ahead = 705 MT CO2/year or 1.96% of current annual global emissions of 36Gt CO2. Reminder on the science re Galilee Basin coal from climate scientist Will Steffen from September 2015 (PDF).
