All road users know that sometimes it is necessary to disrupt a journey because there are essential roadworks. And we recognise that precautions need to be taken to protect the workforce.

 

Drivers are less understanding where THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING GOING ON. There used to be a Cones Hotline to contact to report unnecessary traffic restrictions, though that quickly fell by the wayside.

Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Working Group will focus on cross-sector strategies that equip low-income Americans with the skills needed to ascend today’s emerging career ladders. Participants will discuss ways to invest in employees, promote career pathways for Opportunity Youth, and utilize technology tools for workforce development, among other topics.

In 2014, the U.S. economy added more than 2.7 million jobs. However, the employment rate is the lowest in almost 30 years and low-skilled workers continue to experience poor social and economic outcomes. In 2015, the Workforce Development Working Group will convene leaders from government, business, foundations, and nonprofits to develop cross-sector strategies that equip low-income Americans with the skills needed to ascend today’s emerging career ladders.

Houston Community College and industry leaders, elected officials and emerging business executives from Stafford are joining forces to solve the workforce needs in the area.

During the Workforce Summit, held Thursday at the Stafford Campus, HCC Chancellor, Dr. Mary Spangler; HCC Southwest President Orfelina (Fena) Garza, Ph.D. and The Honorable Leonard Scarcella, Mayor of Stafford, talked about what Stafford needs and what HCC is doing to fill those needs.
