Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch announced today at Gateway Technical College that the college will receive a $1.89 million Blueprint for Prosperity grant to reduce student waiting lists and expand capacity in high-demand career program areas at the college. Kleefisch and state Workforce Development Secretary Reggie Newson were on hand at the event held at the SC Johnson iMET Center.

The U.S. Army Installation Management Command’s Best Warrior Competition kicked off in full battle rattle the morning of May 24 with a 12-mile ruck march and ended with a royal rumble as competitors faced each other in the combatives event. Finishing first of the competitors for IMCOM Noncommissed Officer of the Year was Sgt. Dane Jordan, Northeast/Southeast Region; Spc. On September 2, 2014 the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) hosted Congressman John K. Delaney and the Honorable Thomas E. Perez, United States Secretary of Labor, for a forum on the topic of workforce development entitled, “Preparing Today for Tomorrow’s Success.” In addition to Congressman Delaney and Secretary Perez, panelists included: Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard, President of Montgomery College; Mr. Diego Uriburu, Executive Director of Identity Inc.; and Mr. Patrick J. Caulfield, co-owner of Coakley & Williams Construction Inc. The panel discussion was moderated by USG’s Executive Director, Dr. Stewart Edelstein.

Col. Hank Dodge, U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I commander conducted an awards ceremony for his workforce at the Camp Red Cloud theater May 18. He presented 19 Department of the Army honorary awards, 6 Koran Service Medals, 24 certificates of appreciation to departing Korean employees, 11 certificates and pins to retiring Korean employees, and 23 length of service awards totaling 465 years to Korean employees.
