This was a super rare chance to see the original deco-esque paintings that Crowley created with artist Harris reflected his own dark weird take on the deck based around his self created magick religion Thoth. The kind of work you would never expect to see in Venice which is what made it so inspiring.

Sturgeon's Mill operated from 1924 to 1963. I liked the old fashioned feeling of work. Here the log is being cut by the steam-driven circular saw as the operator watches. And in the distance, work men with brimmed hats, wait for the next board to come off the saw.
The blacksmith was busy in his work, but you could see that he did it with passion, so I couldn't resist and I had to break the ice to exchange 2 words and take a picture of him. I told him "you see your peers down in the square they are all nervous and with serious and thoughtful expressions, you are working and smiling".

——————————————————————————

This fisherman in St Ives in Cornwall transferred from the main boat to this little sailing vessel so he could keep his feet dry to reach terra firma

An old International truck sits at the Minnie Miller farm. It appears to have been a work truck for the farm.
In my sketchbook…
I can doodle meaningful ideas.
I can fight the waves that are constantly sweeping over me and drowning me in awfulness too deep for words.
I can stand up to the horror that keeps whirling around and within me.
I can try to breathe and I can work to breathe more deeply and slowly.
I can re-illustrate a different outcome…one where I am equipped, where I’m old enough and strong enough, where I can escape the unspeakable terror, where I have support and am not alone, where I have adequate resources and the knowledge, wisdom, awareness and experience of an adult.
I can do the ongoing, intense work of rewiring my brain which has been drastically altered by the unspeakable.
I can try to process and express what I am unable to describe with words.
I can grieve what I never asked to experience and what is too devastating to understand yet I have been left with, to do the intense work of surviving and healing.
[In an effort to try to help myself sleep, this was my midnight doodling I began the pen work on, in my handmade sketchbook which is inside my handmade travelers notebook, after previously having this idea come to mind and drafting part of this with pencil…to be continued…]
The original picture from Adobe Stock was less kinky.
The passage to black and white, plus the increased contrast, added to the grungy look made this a little more ... coquin as we say in french ... LOL
Dirty Work is from The Rolling Stones
Good photography is hard work. Carrying your lenses and cameras that weight 20kg or more. Finding locations to shoot. Dealing with people. Working at night and on the weekends.
Driving home from work, the clouds on the coast dispersed as the night settled in- a wonderful opportunity to shoot at night. A waxing gibbous moon to my back gently lit this popular lighthouse as I exposed to capture the moving light beam. The grounds are pretty tight, so shooting this close at 20mm proved to be difficult while trying to prevent image distortion. Even so, I am really pleased with the results.
