My work area, all cleaned up and ready to get some homework done.
I need to figure out a way to fix the washed-out look that the CVS cam has.

> Pocket Rocket 2 is a new work By Benwilsondesign created for the
> wonderful exhibition Power Of Making at the V&A, which runs from 6
> September 2011 – 2 January 2012.
>
> Pocket Rocket 2 is an ongoing investigation for the ultimate urban
> bicycle.
>
> For PR2 we collaborated with Melliard's modern pinstriping and
> lettering to create a paint scheme inspired by traditional bicycle
> lugs. Butting up to the hand fillet brazed steel frame, they hand
> applied 23 carat gold (machine turned) leaf accents to emphasize the
> honest workmanship that went into building the bicycle. We used 20''
> wheels with 2 speed kick back SA brakes and to top it off, a one off
> hand tooled wilson/roofer special Brooks saddle!

> POWER OF MAKING
> A V&A and Crafts Council exhibition
> Crafts Council is supported by Arts Council England
> 6 September 2011 – 2 January 2012
>
> This autumn, the V&A and Crafts Council will celebrate the role of
> making in our lives by presenting an eclectic selection of over 100
> exquisitely crafted objects, ranging from a life-size crochet bear
> to a ceramic eye patch, a fine metal flute to dry stone walling.
> Power of Making will be a cabinet of curiosities showing works by
> both amateurs and leading makers from around the world to present a
> snapshot of making in our time.
>
> Power of Making comes at a time when the loss of skill is
> threatening cultural practice and impacting on commercial
> industries. However, there is also a resurgence of making currently
> taking place as a means of self expression, social participation and
> cultural definition. The exhibition will examine and celebrate the
> expertise, knowledge and innovation demonstrated in objects,
> supporting the importance of traditional making skills and the drive
> towards new ways of working.
>
> The exhibition will encourage visitors to consider the process of
> making, not just the results. There will be commissioned documentary
> footage filmed at individual maker’s studios and factories, to
> provide an insight into how the knowledge of making is preserved.
> People from around the world will be invited to upload short films
> about making to a dedicated open submission website and a selection
> of the best entries will be continually screened in the exhibitions
> making area.

Jim running a work train above the Wild River. He did not realize I was recording sound along with the video.
Much of the train was scratch built by Cliff. I built the crane from a Gould kit and the bobber from a wooden kit, if I remember correctly it was an Ambroid model of a Pennsylvania caboose.
Most of these are going to a customer in Germany. Our little contribution to reversing the US trade deficit.
A work doodle while trying to do MANY things at once and solve a very difficult design problem - in total control of course!?!?!
My EEE, using all three USB ports for a mouse, keyboard, and external hard drive. And hooked up to a 22" HD screen.
This is my research page into looking at the artist Georgia O'Keeffe, the my copy of her work is on the right and my response to her work is on the left. I love how O'Keeffe paints her flowers as if they are reaching out of the canvas, as if to represent her own life as a young women in the 1920's breaking free from the traditional way of life.
After pulling up the older-old floor. Most of the tiles were basically unglued already and just had to be scooped up with shovels. But about 5-10% were SERIOUSLY cemented to the point that they needed to be basically chiseled off the slab, inch by inch and tile by tile.

I used to work with her Mom. Kayla is 16 and just started working with us. This is her first job. Her Mom was a pleasure to work with and Kayla is fun as well.
There’s a hell of a lot of building going on in Honiara right now. Preparations for the 2012 Pacific Arts Festival has meant an unprecedented amount of public works…up to and including footpaths!! This building however is one of the many Chinese owned shops that will most likely house yet more of the small general store operations so common here.
Such developments provide an opportunity for unskilled labor to enter the construction industry but they do nothing for local ownership of a means of capital generation. It is precisely this activity that contributed to the 2003 tensions….When I look at them I wonder whether they have learned from history.
A multi-purpose aluminum work skiff from Mavrik Marine. The WS26 with standard cabin option, crab davit, drum and roller options.
Corporate brochure portraits of staff at work. We turned up pretty much unannounced and found some willing volunteers who didn't mind having their photograph taken. You can see the rest here.
