This is a gorgeous 40% wool 40% alpaca 20% silk yarn that I bought at our new local yarn shop.

Made yarn - 2 ply - 60,8 meters

Maple shaft, Lignum Vitae arms.

8 cm long - cross 5,5 cm.

two quick projects this week. both took less than an hour.

This is the first yarn spun from wool carded on my new Ashford drum carder. I didn't realize till I'd finished spinning it, that all the colors reminded me of things from my childhood like: The Dick and Jane reading books from my little country grade school, glass marbles in the playground, the plaid taffeta bows on my pigtails, the red and green wooden kiddy kar my dad made for me, and the handpainted "MADE IN JAPAN" knicknacks I've always loved.

it's from knit1 in edinburgh, which makes it cool.

new for fall - five colors of kettle-dyed wool roving (shown are sample skeins of yarn spun from this wool)

Wool spinning near the sutro baths in San Francisco.

I timed this shot just long enough to highlight the cave outline and not much longer.
