Coyote contemplating the future after yesterday's sunset along the American River

There are so many things for children to wonder about every minute of the day but I find myself wondering what the world will be like for them when they are my age and if there will be anything left of it or us.

The view ahead as one walks along Smith Rock's Crooked River urges one on to see the wonders that lie around each corner. Multiple memory cards are recommended.

I just returned from a camping trip to Idaho's Sawtooth mountains. The Sawtooths don't receive the attention of their neighbors, the Tetons, but are similar. Not quite as high as those iconic peaks, but there are many more peaks in the Sawtooths to admire.

Think I got some good shots.

Weather was challenging, as usual. Looking forward to processing and sharing the Sawtooths with you.

Hope your July is off to a wonderful start.

Wondering........

Great to know our heroes are keeping the streets safe!

The cats in the garden today (you can see Tofu's fluffy tail in the background). I'm sure Sethi was wondering what Tofu was up to behind him but he tried hard to look indifferent. :)

...just because.

The confessional - it's a 12-metre tube that travels three levels underground at MONA, Tasmania - people can talk to each other from each end.

After taking so many low-light photos in the museum underground, i'd left the camera on ISO 25,600 which made this image over-exposed and grainy. Actually almost has a film grain quality to it ...

My friends son Lewis and his first time kite flying near the river Adur in West Sussex.

For those who may be interested this image is reliant on the flexibility of the RAW file. I metered off the sky with no filter which left the ground and figure well underexposed. After putting the file into Lightroom I was able to recover the detail in the lower area of the photo whilst maximising the contrast in the clouds and sunlight.

Back to one of my favourite subjects: the Milky Way above the limestone stacks of Gog and Magog - two of the 12 Apostles off the southern coast of Victoria in Australia.

This shot was taken in 2019, having descended the Gibson Steps in complete darkness to get to the beach below. The shot is a single exposure with a bit of playing around in Photoshop to get the foreground to stand out, plus that wonderful new 'denoise' button to eliminate a lot of the graininess you get at 5000 ISO.

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), 160,000 light years away, is in the top centre of the shot and just below it is the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), all of 200,000 light years away.

Ever wonder how different

Nights of wonder....

As her feet gently touch the soft tender gold sands she stands alone, isolated left with her book and paint brush as the gentle sky fades to nights shadows.. She looks deep with wonder gazing into the darkness of the deep velvet sky where each star echoes and recedes shimmers with infinite harmony our mysterious universe, our constellation dancing with the moon beams with its silky reflections on her delicate skin. As light in its delicate material cast shadows, light against the dark, dark against the light transcends in harmony with her inner music where freedom resides....

4 Days until Christmas!

Christmas renews our youth by stirring our wonder. The capacity for wonder has been called our most pregnant human faculty, for in it are born our art, our science, our religion. ~ Ralph Sockman

Another "One Unit Wonder"-north side. Conrail C40-8-6036 is parked, just west of Otsego Street on the far east end of the Port Road, with a train load of Case/International Harvester combines headed to the Port of Baltimore for export. The track on the right is the connection to CSX's Philadelphia Sub which hasn't been used as a connection for many years.

I landed safely at The Liaison Collaborative to help LouLou get the event ready to open immediately after shooting this perfectly lovely dress by Una. I rolled by eyes in a totally laughing way when LouLou told me I needed to put on a pair of panties.... I mean really.. what was she doing peeking under my sweet little dress! Upon turning the corner I realized my entire backside was showing as I was wearing the transparent option. Although my derriere is totally cute, my face turned red and......
