My 2yr old daughter loves Butterflies

She always sings,,,Butterfly butterfly happy all the day...this is for you dearest Hessa......

You're probably wondering what this is, and I don't blame you. I wondered too when I opened this piece as a gift on my recent birthday. It was empty and at first I thought it looked like a large, glazed celery stick:) But no, it is a clay piece (vessel) by an amazing sculptor, Georgina Lohan. It is 14" long, 1 1/2" wide in the center, and 1/2" deep. Of course, my second thought was that I would use it for photography, so I took it outside and filled it with marbles. The possibilities are endless...

April is National Poetry Month, a celebration of poets and poetry that's been in place for 25 years.

Last month, as the U.S. grieved over attacks against Asian Americans, NPR's Morning Edition collected poems on how people grapple with the increased violence and discrimination.

Over 500 listeners shared powerful, poignant poems — in the form of a list beginning with the word "today." They showcased fear, anger, empathy and motivation to make the world a better place.

NPR's resident poet Kwame Alexander took lines from the submissions to create a community poem, "Today, I Am A Witness To Change."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To quote just a few:
Today I hesitate
for the first time, I wonder if I should stay home and not walk the neighborhood.
it's not the weather or the virus — the day is beautiful
Today
I'm frozen
Terrified.
I cannot hide
This skin
This hair
These eyes.
I see the punch, punch, punch of a community at war.
Today I am a witness.
I rush past the jeering white boys that say I brought corona to America.
My soul is wary.
Today, a video call full of empty boxes
Stares at me, apprehensively.
Students locked behind a screen
Their hearts and minds
Severed
From one another.
Today, the headlines say March Madness
Today, I don't watch basketball.
The madness is in the streets.
In broad daylight.
On the concrete sidewalks of New York.
In the silence of bystanders.
It's in the textbooks. The classrooms. The family dinners. The lies we tell.
Today the rain falls
and falls
and falls
and falls.
a silent tear from a weeping woman.
Today, I will say their names
I will cancel class and try again tomorrow.
That's a scary thought to commute to NYC nowadays for me, even I'm FULLY inoculated. :-(((
Hello, it’s me
I was wondering if after all these years
you’d like to meet
To go over everything
They say that time’s supposed to heal ya,
but I ain’t done much healing...
Even though this fascinating geological formation is named for it's color, orange, I liked the way the textures and definition stood out in b/w.
Wondering what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
After a long time I went back to my first passion: macro photography! Hope you'll enjoy this picture! Let me know what you think! Have a great week my friends!
Ein gelegentlicher, sanfter Gast bei uns im Garten. Ich finde sie sehr sympathisch. Wer sich wegen der Blätter wundert: genau genommen sitzt sie im "Mini-Mamutbaum" meines Nachbarn. (Das ist kein einheimischer Baum und ich habe keine Ahnung, ob das der richtige Name ist.)
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren.
An occasional, gentle guest in our garden. I find her very likeable. If you are wondering about the leaves: actually it is sitting in my neighbor's "mini sequoia". (That is not a native tree in Europe and I have no idea whether that is the proper name).
To view this picture with the best resolution press the "l" (small L) and F11 keys. When enlarging the pic by just mouse clicking you lose quality. Enjoy!
