last night appeared to be very overcast and yet we decided to venture to the shore of Ullsfjorden fjord to take some long exposures and we found that above the flowing clouds was a beautiful Northern sky to admire with occasionally stars showing and green lights showing through. Standing there in this silent immensity puts many things in life into the real perspective: all our self-built worries and preoccupations appear to shrink into little or nothing when witnessing the grand scheme of nature.

when i take photographs, it's nature that sings. i don't do anything special. this is a patch of lavender in my garden. the colors, textures, and feeling are straight from nature. a warm hug of wonder.
Just returned from a short trip to Northern Michigan to see the International Dark Sky Park. My first attempt at astro photography. I learned a lot and look forward to trying again, but am pleased with a couple of images I came away with. So awed by my first real sighting of the Milky Way. Thank you to Alfred Lockwood for the many tips and directions, it was enormously helpful!
Just in case you were wondering...nothing against photoshop, but these sunbeams are real. Hard to resist a shot like this when the winter sun is so low in the sky.
