The R. K. Church H. H. Joseph and Pancratius is a neo-Gothic three-aisled church with higher transept and narrower, trilateral closed choir, built in 1861-'65 design by J.G.J. van Roosmalen.

Vasse is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel.

The village is frequently used as the starting point for hiking or biking trips, because of the beauty and variety of the nature surrounding it.

Vasse is situated in one of the oldest inhabited areas of the Netherlands, the various burial fields are the silent witnesses of this.

This is what we saw during our Bicycle tours in the Netherlands, where we have cycled through the beautiful landscape.

I've not reached the research part of my project yet, so it feels odd to share this without doing my homework, but here it is anyway.

Poem.

Sometimes, just sometimes, reality can exceed imagination.

Rarely, a moment is witnessed that requires a stern pinch, just to check that we are compos mentis.

Yes, and here……………. is such a moment.

So perfectly balanced is this scene, that maybe, it is all a dream.

That golden glow in the sky and the gently lapping bay

accompanied by the scream of scavenging gulls.

The stark, crisp, jet-black silhouettes of tree, yachts, cottages and stepped hills.

Even the seagulls on the shore are statuesque, as if mesmerised.

But no, this is Plockton at sunrise and we smile with admiration.

I would wager that there are few places in heaven or earth that exceed the perfection of this place.

Only a privileged few venture this far, but those that do……

…… don’t forget!!!

"We're gonna take the streets

Marchin for a bigger dream

Shout til the blind can see

It's time for us to be free

We're gonna bring the rain

We're gonna light the flame

Stand till we see the change"

Happy 15th birthday to Aella, my first grandchild. Teenagers are allowed to sleep in so I witnessed the dawn and your new skating rink without you.

A followup chase of PT-98 later in the week got us witnessing the D-L and NS doing their interchange right in Portland proper, which was a nice way to illustrate what this train does. Here, the NS pulls out with the D-L traffic as they await a route back to their home rails. Leaves were the central theme of the trip and the intakes on this NS Crescent Cab certainly illustrate that quite well!

This morning I was lucky enough to witness a nice sunrise near to a customer where I was working!

A dramatic colored sunrise with an enormous amount of red in the sky, I tried to take a shot with the beautiful colors an a silhouette of the tree's in front of it.

Good morning! What a wonderful sunrise to witness. I love the light as it changes from "cool wintery" tones to "warmer getting close to spring" ones...

On a side note...man, this bakery around the corner from me has the most delicious apple doughnuts EVER. They haven't had them for months, but today as I left the house I could actually smell them 2 blocks away. Seriously. I have no will power when it comes to these little devils and naturally a pair is much better, so with the beautiful sunrise, doughnuts in hand, sticky fingers on the camera I had a wonderful walk through the city. Hope you enjoy your day!

An early morning at the Grand Canyon's. Lucky to find the two gentlemen standing on a butte admiring the beauty of the curvy Colorado carving the canyon.

I switched to my telephoto and took a series of shots to make a panorama, a way to show what they are seeing!

It was one of the most spectacular sunsets I have witnessed to date. The sky turned so many different hues of oranges and pinks as the sun set over Yellowstone National Park. And it lasted and lasted for what seemed like an eternity.

And I almost missed it.

We were driving back from our day's trip into Yellowstone. Looking at the sky I could tell something amazing was going to happen. But I had planned poorly as the stretch of highway we were on offered nothing but the bare trunks of trees that had burned back in 1988 in the massive wildfires of that summer. We drove on and watched as the sky lit up, hoping to find a location that would allow us to capture the gorgeous sky above us. As the colors began to fade we came to Lewis Lake. My wife stopped the jeep and I grabbed my gear and ran towards the shore hoping to find something I could frame into a photo. Luckily the moon cooperated and I was able to squeeze off a few frames before the sky faded into night.

When I now look at this image it I am reminded that planning is such a huge part of getting the photographs we want and dream about. But I will also never forget the beauty of the sky we saw and experienced that night. Isn't that even more important?

A scanned image and one of my earliest (taken about 25 years ago). This was a long exposure shot on a misty night .The factory on the opposite bank is now an eponymous supermarket and apartments. The river (Trent) has been a slient witness to all the change.

before the bay of palma awakens, the day murmurs its arrival through the whispers of dawn. clouds part like curtains unveiling a stage, rays of light cascade, each a gentle touch on the slumbering sea. the silhouette of the distant mountains stands as the eternal audience, witnessing the slow brightening of the world. it’s a serene symphony where each element plays its part in harmony, the sea reflecting the sky’s moody hues, the land a dark contrast to the awakening sky. in this quiet hour, time pauses, allowing the earth to inhale the promise of a new day, a subtle interlude before life resumes its pace.

Swan family crossing the rails

Sometime it's not about the perfect composition, or even a good composition. It's just about taking you're camera with you and witnessing that one special moment.

Here's a swan family, just about to cross the tramrails, later they've crossed the road , causing a traffic jam, but they made it safely to the other side, to their new home of other waters and greens.

Founded in the 18th century, the Paris Military Academy is an outstanding example of French neoclassical architecture, symbolising the tradition and history of military training. Situated in a lively urban environment, the building bears witness to centuries of military and cultural heritage and blends harmoniously into the city's historical context. The image features a figure whose presence adds dynamism to the scene, reinforcing the contrast between the monumentality of the building and the vibrancy of everyday life in Paris.
