"Witnessing" by artist Bettina Schott at the Largo Public Library in Largo, Florida.
The light coming in on the painting is what caught my eye.
I wasn't the only one to decide that the Tundra Trail would be a good place to catch the eclipse. While wandering around looking for rock formations to shoot with, I saw this group perched on a rock and decided to frame with them.
Pampatar (where I live) was founded around 1530, so it has very rich
history, including wars and revolutions. How many lovely ladies felt in

Sunset witnesses gather each night,
To watch the sky in its fading light.
They see the day bow out with grace,
As dusk paints the world in a warm embrace.
Merry Christmas, everyone! May you all have a blessed day with family and friends and keep Christmas in your hearts throughout the new year!

To sit at the front seat of someone’s life; to place them on the throne of our hearts, is a sacred privilege. One of the deepest human longings is to know that our lives have been truly witnessed, not merely another breath lost to the winds of eternity.

Again and again, it’s well worth hiking up a mountain early in the morning to witness a unique sunrise. The brief moments just before the sun rises also have their own special charm, as can perhaps be seen in this panoramic shot in 6x17 format. From the Hohneck mountain, one of the prominent viewpoints in the Vosges Mountains in France, the view stretches across a vast landscape all the way to the peaks of the Swiss Alps.
Peggy's Cove Lighthouse has been standing tall to witness the life and people coming and going. So is the sun.
I welcome your critique, suggestions or any comments. They are greatly appreciated.

The Series Sixty-two was a model produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964 when it was renamed “Calais” for the 1965 model year. It was one of Cadillac’s most popular models. For the 1949 model year, the Series Sixty-two spawned the “Coupe deVille.”
For the 1953 model year the world was introduced to the very first Series Sixty-two Eldorado. The Series Sixty-two convertible was one of America’s most luxurious convertibles. Cadillac’s magnificent new design and craftsmanship were dramatically displayed in the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible.
Cadillac for the 1957 model year was completely redesigned. A Cadillac convertible was the celebrity among Cadillacs. There was no more gracious manner in which to enjoy open-air touring than the 1957 Series Sixty-two convertible. Its aristocratic flair was dramatic and pronounced.
Apart from the Biarritz convertible, the Series Sixty-two convertible was the most elegant convertible built in the land. It was the synthesis of two motoring worlds; it had all the panache of a ragtop and the comfort of a luxury car. Style code #6267F Series Sixty-two convertible had a base price of $5,225. (Cadillac repairs today run up tabs along these same dollar amounts…amazing)
The 1957 Cadillacs were all-new in design from the 1956 models. The 1957 cars presented a new sleekness in every line as witnessed by the Series Sixty-two convertible. They were built almost 3” lower in overall height.
The front end ensemble was boldly aggressive. It retained the “Dagmars.” The sweep of its new fender lines extended back to the redesign of the iconic Cadillac tail fins.
The convertible’s silhouette was highlighted by chrome-framed wheel openings and extended contour lines to both front and rear fenders. The fender skirts were dropped for a cleaner more contemporary look at the time.
All Cadillac bodies were built by the Fleetwood Division of Fisher Body under relentless quality control procedures. The Series Sixty-two convertible rode upon a long 129.5” wheelbase, had the luxury length of 220.9” and an 80” wide stance.
The Cadillac 6.0 litre 365 CID 16-valve V8 engine had five main bearings, intake silencer, and hydraulic lifters. It was constructed with cast iron, block and cylinder heads. The engine was equipped with a Rochester 4-bbl downdraft Quadrajet carburetor with equalized manifold, and automatic choke. It produced 300 hp @ 4,800 rpm with 542 Nm of peak torque @ 2,800 rpm. Performance was rated as 0-60 mph in 11.2 seconds, 0-100 mph in 33.1 seconds with a top speed of 119 mph. It could do the ¼ mile @ 81 mph in 18.1 seconds.
The Cadillac Series sixty-two convertible was a triumph of motoring distinction. Its unmatched comfort and spacious dignity was the finest expression of Cadillac’s dramatically new styling. In the way it looked and the way it drove, the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible introduced a brand new measure of excitement to modern luxury motoring…done in the manner only the “Standard of the World” could provide. This is another classic encore presentation…in the continuing saga of “As the Standard of the World Turns.”

Kippsala, Riga, Latvia, 2015.
Wooden building on Kipsala in Riga. This town has a lot of those wooden beauties. There are those who believe that it was lucky, that during russian occupation of Latvia all russian money ment for urban Development was spend on the academy of Sciences (Stalin's birthday cake) so that a lot of the old buildings survived.
There seems to be a ring of fresher flowers around the shrivellling bloom in the center.

The lone tree; lone with the exception of the three photographers, bears witness to an epic sunrise. Llyn Padarn, Snowdonia, North Wales.
The falls are anything but silent yet the snow in the trees muffle her roar so that it feels very still and peaceful here. This was taken December 14th and when we returned one week later hoping for even snowier conditions the road had been closed.
Ancient Witnesses
As the stars rise, the stone remains — quiet, enduring, timeless.
These formations have watched the passage of millennia in silence, bearing witness to the slow arc of the cosmos above. I often wonder what stories they’d tell if they could speak — stories of fire, wind, and water… of creatures long gone… and now, of a lone photographer beneath their gaze.
Captured under a moonless sky, this is one of those nights where everything aligns — the air still, the Milky Way rising, and the sense that you’re standing in a place where time barely matters.
I return to these places not just to photograph them, but to feel something deeper — the connection between earth and sky, between the ancient and the now.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
Silent Witness
On a small road trip behind Whale Rock Reservoir on Cottontail Creek Road, I find many interesting things to photograph. Whale Rock Reservoir is behind the Central California Coast beach town of Cayucos.
During the American Civil War the United States wardship the Kearsage made headlines after sinking the Confederate raider Alabama off the coast of France. Manet did not witness firsthand the widely covered event but devoted two paintings to the subject:a scene of the naval battle and this picture, prompted by his subsequent visit to the victorious ship at anchor near Boulogne. They were his first depictions of a current event.
