Even though they were dressed in black I believe these two were most likely good witches.

This witch's house was a gift for my mother's 80th birthday. After seeing one of my other minis, she asked me to make her a cauldron with a witch.

So of course, the witch needed a home and the cauldron needed a fireplace...

I love these crinkley little petals, so delicate.

One of the Facebook local history groups to which I belong were discussing items of children's playground equipment which can no longer be seen, equipment that was potentially lethal and which no modern-day authority would allow on their children's play areas. One of these was the Witch's Hat a sort of roundabout pivoted at the top so as well as going round it could also sway from side to side. Kids actually loved it, but it had the potential for injury should a child get in the way whilst it was swaying.

My negative file states the Witch's Hat shown here was at Gelligaled Park in the Rhondda. It's October 1972 and by identifying the children I can narrow the date to between the 10th and 19th of that month. The youngsters had a whale of a time at the playground where there was also another lethal instrument of play, but more of that next time.

The film was Ilford HP4 and the developer was more than likely Microphen, although on this occasion my negative file is devoid of that information. The camera was probably my Minolta SRT 303, again my negative file doesn't specify.

This house is across the street from me. I've always loved the witch weathervane!

Have you ever met a witch woman? How about meeting a witch woman in a secluded African village?

Sheree and I did on a hot afternoon in January. We were going to a school, but the principal seemed to think we wanted to meet the village witch woman first.

There were two young men out front, eying us suspiciously as we neared.

Inside the hut...and it WAS a hut...she sat on the floor, contemplating a pile of sea shells, coins and beads in front of her.

I always view fortune tellers with a watermelon sized grain of salt. (If they're so good, how come they didn't buy Google stock fifteen years ago?)

Anyway: our escort told us we could ask anything we wanted.

"Will I ever find a woman?" asked one of men on our tour. His voice quavered just a little.

She consulted the sea shells. She pushed them around with a cane. Then she nodded. Yes...the lonely man would be lonely no longer. He settled back, content.

There were a couple more awkward questions...no one got bad news. Everyone got good news. Most tipped her. Am I cynical for thinking that no one would have tipped at all if they'd gotten bad news?

It was an experience...a great experience. Interesting, even.

Gee...I guess she knew I'd say that one day.

Damn.

The Witches Tower build techniques. When I make these large builds I usually try to come up with a technique I haven’t seen before or try something I haven’t done before. It helps make these projects more interesting to build and makes bulk ordering parts a lot simpler.

This build I wanted to try messing around with flex tube to get the correct spacing I wanted for the bricks. I did try mixel ball joints and hinges but I quickly realised the price would get expensive quick. Flex tube just ended up being the simpler option and gave me a lot of options to attach things to.

The technique I use for the framing in the rock has been used in all my show displays. It is the best solution I have come up with to help make elevated terrain. It is very strong and light for transport. Its also quick to build and easy to change if need be.

Took a few more shots for Sam at a spell for you. Sam has picked and chosen stones from various locations on her travels. She then lovingly hand paints them with witches' divination symbols. The stones come in their own hand sown bag with organza and explanation scroll. They make an ideal gift or for someone interested in stone divination. See links below for her website, ebay and social media sites.

Witches of Ellezelles.

Ellezelles is the center of "Pays des Collines", a landscape of hills in the southern part of Belgium where the ghost of Quintine de la Glisserie (a witch burned in 1610) is still wandering around.

The detail of this Queen Ann “Witches Cap” is worth a close-up look. Note the curved glass windows! Built in 1895 for Carl E. Lindsay, the District Attorney of Santa Cruz at the time.

Here is to my third scene of The Witcher based upon the series on Netflix. I really enjoyed the fight in this scene between the Witcher and a monster called Striga.

A Striga is a woman who has been turned into a monster by a curse. Geralt (the Witcher) went in an abandoned part of a castle to broke the curse and save her. Of course this would be not an easy job...

I hope I recreated well the dark atmosphere of the night at the castle. The window and the dresser are my favourite parts.

I have to warn you, the scene is a bit scary but you can watch it here.

Main pic here.

Thanks to Diego for the shooting work.

Are witches bad? Really?

My travels around the UK by car for three weeks with my son. June/July 2019 Scotland.

Day fifteen .. In the Northwest Highlands on our journey to Helmsdale where we are staying the night.

The Northwest Highlands are located in the northern third of Scotland that is separated from the Grampian Mountains by the Great Glen (Glen More). The region comprises Wester Ross, Assynt, Sutherland and part of Caithness.

The geology of the Highlands is complex. Along the western coastal margin it is characterised by Lewisian gneiss, the oldest rock in Scotland. Liathach, Beinn Alligin, Suilven, Cùl Mòr, Cùl Beag, and Quinag are just some of the impressive rock islands of the significantly younger rich brown-coloured Torridonian sandstone which rests on the gneiss. Some of the peaks, such as Beinn Eighe and Canisp, are topped with later light grey or white Cambrian quartzite. Cambro-Ordovician limestone is also to be found in a narrow outcrop between Durness and Skye. The larger part of the region is formed from rocks of the Moine succession much of which is metamorphosed sandstones (psammites) and schist. These have over-ridden the gneiss and the Cambrian and Ordovician rocks of the northwest margin along the Moine Thrust Belt.

The region has steep, glacier-carved mountains, glens and interspersed plains. Elevations of around 750 metres (2500 ft) or over are common, as are mountains exceeding 3000 feet or 914 m (Munros).

The Northwest Highlands are typically not quite as cold as the Cairngorms. Considering its terrain and its latitude of about 57 to 58 degrees North, the area is surprisingly warm: this is due to the mild influence of the Gulf Stream. The aurora borealis is sometimes visible on winter nights, especially at the climax of the 11-year cycle. Bordering the region to the north east is the lowland area of Caithness. There are relatively few roads, and many are single lane (with passing places). The region has a very low population density. Significant settlements are Kyle of Lochalsh, Mallaig, Dingwall, Dornoch, and Ullapool.

The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt

beautiful people at the midwinterfair

Legend: You can hear a little girl laughing in the woods and loud thumps. People have seen a white mist moving very fast in what looked like the living room, but only the foundation and a fire place remain of the main house. Up the hill just behind the main house is a small shack surrounded by a ditch and a cliff. In this shack there is a fireplace with one window on each side. You can hear many different voices and see people peeking out of the windows. There used to a basement to the main house, but it has been filled in now with dirt and rock. You cannot miss where the steps used to be. There's a small door on each side of the room also in the room with the fireplace. A small girl about 7-8 years old has been seen by many people. She was wearing a white dress. She had long black hair, but her hair is covering her face. This is one of the sites Shanda Sharer was taken before she was killed hours later by her captors. Legend also states witches originally occupied the house, until it was destroyed by the townspeople, and they haunt the remains of the house to this day.

History: The Witch's Castle was a ruined stone house, also known as Mistletoe Falls, located on an isolated hill overlooking the Ohio River.

The Art Dolls Only Street team is doing a Shakespeare challenge. I made the witches from Macbeth in 1:12 scale. They are about 5 1/2 inches tall. Their heads, hands and feet are sculpted from polymer clay and their bodies are soft sculpted.
