Well, we've been waiting for a decent snowfall and over the last couple of days, its finally happened. Today the lake machine was in full swing and we had a streamer more or less parked right over top of us all day - a great time to avoid shoveling the driveway and head out into the woods for a walk. Here it's snowing briskly and I'm using a flash to highlight the snowflakes, which actually looks more like bokeh.

Snow in Green Park, London.

Staple Fitzpaine Church and graveyard in the mad March snow.

The waves may crash in foaming billows, the sky may thunder with winter storms, but the rock this island is founded on remains steadfast.

Yes it's cold. Yes it's wintry. Yes, the wind can blow you three ways into tomorrow, but take it from me... if you wrap up in the right clothes, wear a warm bonnet, and have a flask of hot chocolate (or whatever your favourite flask contents may be), it can be absolutely brilliant.

To experience the Hebrides in winter is to experience the elemental forces which have shaped our islands over the millenia. Sunny days are most welcome, but it is that raw, rugged beauty that brings artists and photographers to our shores time and time and time again, and it is days like this that I can stand upon a lonely shore and feel in my bones that yes, these are my Hebrides.

I am hoping that this will be the last snow fall this year.....waiting anxiously for spring to arrive.

A rare snowy day, along with some fog, at the Illinois River at Hennepin,IL. I have been hauling soybeans to the CGB grain terminal there this month and took this pic while I was unloading. The town of Hennepin is home to three grain terminals-CGB,ADM,and Cargill-so a lot of grain from northcentral Illinois flows through the area.

Pretty scene, but the only problem,I had to drive back 1 hour to the farm in this...

Got more snow today and I loved it. Went out in my warmest clothes and walked around in the woods. The quiet really speaks to my soul.

Close up of a Weasel.. Blink and she's gone....!

With two feet of snow, minus 28 degree temperatures(minus 55 degree windchill),and 4 foot drifts, spring seems a long way away. Hope is in sight, Sunday brings temperatures near 40degrees and the possibility of rain...

A morning shot of part of our farm yard. Last weekend's storm left a beautiful, but dangerous, icy wonderland. I can handle snow and cold, but ice makes everything so much harder...

Looking out my back door now that it's daylight. Poop. So it begins. Possibly up to 5" by 6pm. The temperature is only going to go down through the weekend, so I guess it will be here for awhile.

Greetings. Wishing everyone a Happy Thursday evening.

Ps After this photograph I removed some snow off the baby olive tree and the hibiscus. By this time my Red Oak was completely hidden by the snow. To be honest it is only a few centimetres tall

That speed limit looks a wee bit high for that 'road'...with or without the snow!

Nothing as uplifting as a crisp blue winter's day. I loved the unexpectedly startling colours on this superb day's workshop on the Kent marshes with landscape photographer Robert Canis. My first proper foray into intentional camera movement. Picked up lots of tips and intending to do more.

Woke up to a raging snow storm this morning with 14 inches of snow already on the ground, nothing like the 3 to 6 inches that was foretasted the night before.

By the time the storm let up mid afternoon we had a good 22 inches on the ground and I spent two and a half hours shoveling out a path to my Jeep and getting it cleaned off.

More shoveling planned for tomorrow to get to our fire wood, gas tank and upper driveway.

Sitting on the pile of wood brash I have around the feeders to provide cover for the smaller birds

It’s a rare sight to see the mobius arch with a coating of snow. I had to get this composition fast because there was only a small break in the clouds and tourists. I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years!

PS. To be continued. Tomorrow! :-)) ❤❤❤

First Sunset Of 2020.

The First Day Of 2020 Brought Us A Fresh Foot Of New Fallen Snow With A Temperature Of 34F And A Nice Sunset.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. (:>)

We finally got significant snow in our area of the Midwest this week just in time for the holiday season.Unfortunately we also got a whole lot of cold, the worse part(-13) coming just in time for New Year's Eve and day.Be careful what you wish for is the phrase for the day I guess...

"Three Dog Night", before becoming the name of a great '60s pop rock band, was an Australian term for a very cold night.I doubt they see a whole lot of -13 degree nights down under though....

I feel you Richard...just replace Minnesota with Tennessee...but I totally understand!!

would have been nicer if it was just plain old snow - HSS

Arrowhead's Provincial Park has been transformed into a winter wonderland with piles of snow everywhere! An absolutely tranquil and peaceful place to visit.

I took this picture standing at the south beach in Arklow facing towards some Wicklow Mountains. One is covered with snow. The building in the middle is St Mary's Secondary school

Most of us were snowed in today but some still ventured out....

I'd like to say we were up early to catch the sunrise....but that's not true. It was a lazy morning with enough time for bacon and eggs. Afterwards, we could not ignore a sunny day with freshly fallen snow. A walk was in order. Once on the trail, seeing morning sunlight on the path ahead reminded me of a song by Katrina And The Waves, Walking On Sunshine. It was such a grand day that we spent most of it outside.

Bear Creek Golf Club - Iowa

Sigh, a lot of plans have changed this week due to weather. Mother Nature is in control here, and all the "pouting" in the world isn't going to change it! But we can still try . . .

Not even a bright red golf ball would help today . . .

The one time we've gotten actual snowflakes instead of ice. Collected a few on my stocking cap and got the macro lens out.

Beaver County Oklahoma

Riding along the banks of the Falling Water River with the sun rising behind the snow covered trees in Middle Tennessee...and I can only think that this was the most beautiful snow that we've had in this area since I was a kid (many, many years ago!). Not ice, no rain prior to the snow, and just white fluffy snow everywhere you looked...it was the most beautiful Tennessee has had in a long time.
