Brutally cold day yesterday, even in the afternoon, but the fresh snow helped provide a pretty winter landscape. (Always pretty to find a red barn surrounded by a layer of white snow!)
Winter is the king of showmen,
Turning tree stumps into snow men,
And houses into birthday cakes,
And spreading sugar over lakes.
Smooth and clean and frosty white,
The world looks good enough to bite.
That's the season to be young
Catching snowflakes on your tongue.
Snow is snowy when it's snowing
I'm sorry it's slushy when it's going.

Afternoon Sunlight in the Winter can be very nice as the Sun never gets to high in the sky it not as harsh as Summer Sunlight. This was taken about 15.00hrs so the Sun has past it highest point in the sky and is on its way down. The shot shows The Bird In Hand pub/restaurant located right next to the Staffordshire &Worcestershire Canal just outside Stourport-On-Severn on the way to Kidderminster

Last year I had many opportunities to try this winter bubble art. I may not have much luck doing it this year because we have had a very mild winter and the next few days will be warmer than usual. This is from last February.

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

On my way to Mt. Ste. Marie for the 24th annual Skifest, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonalds House, I came across this bridge with a nice winter patina. We raised $130,000 for the house!
Better for the eyes and soul in the lightbox. Press L, and get into the bridge.

I always love the way the snow covers the tree branches after a snowfall. I took this early one morning before my winter wonderland disappeared.

My garden is a constant source of inspiration to me. In the darkest months of winter, this amazing flower faithfully blooms. Beginning in November and continuing into March, Mahonia 'Charity' shares its golden beauty to feed my soul.
