Matsuo Basho (1644 – 1694) is considered the greatest Japanese haiku poet. "Winter Solitude" is one of his most-loved winter haiku poems:
Winter solitude –
in a world of one color
the sound of wind.

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home."
Quote - Edith Sitwell
I had seen this scene during the day and it offered no visual poetry... It kept nagging at me to see it at night....
10:30 pm in the woods may not be the best decision, but I knew exactly what I wanted and where to go...
Winter ist, wenn sich auch die Pferde über Schnee freuen.
Winter is when the horses are happy about the snow.

Sunset at the Schauinsland mountain, Black Forest.
First rays of the sinking sun stripe the beautiful scenery.
The upper Rhine valley is covered with a cloud layer (Inversion, no pollution) and in the distance the Vosges mountains, Alsace/France are visible. The end of a marvellous day out in Nature.
By the way, it is not so cold there as it may look for you.
The Black Forest is a forested mountain range.

Beginnender Sonnenuntergang auf dem Schauinsland im
Schwarzwald.

Thank you for your kind visits :-)
I love winter. I find it to be so beautiful. The light and snow, and ice are magical. Winter is also very harsh and dangerous and even deadly.
The day after I got this photo of Barker the fox, I hit some black ice riding my bike and I wiped out and hit the ground hard. I broke my nose and tore open my lip. A week later I still have two black eyes and a swollen lip, but it could have been much, much worse.
Take care my Flickr friends.
Thank-you to all who take the time to comment on my photos it is always greatly appreciated.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend my friends!
Thank you for your support and visit! Stay safe!
winter invites us to pause and reflect. there's a bare vulnerability we cannot ignore. and in that rawness, there's often beauty and light.
Light and shade. Beautiful lines. Sparkling snow. All this I found in the park of my city on a cold but sunny day.
I live in rural Wisconsin where some of the farmer's have spared a few trees in their fields. The trees always catch your eye no matter what the season! I prefer their boney arms without leaves in the winter.
Each tree has a shape and personality of its own!
