It was caught changing direction here - thus the unusual leg positioning.

These are still considered "rare" in this locality, but they have been numerous around my place for years now.

Taken on our way to Washington DC. I am tagging along on a business trip for my husband.

I'll admit the reflection of this dude leaves something to be desired, but I liked how well this photo caught the green wing-patch. This is another shot from Radio Rd.

As a side note, I'm officially 14 now! Huzzah!

Même si le plumage rouge du mâle bec-croisé bifscié est impressionnant, personnellement, je pense que le plumage multicolore de ce jeune immature l'est encore plus. On dirait un kaléidoscope des couleurs...

Although the red plumage of the male white-winged crossbill is impressive, personally, I think the multi-colored plumage of this young immature is even more so. It looks like a kaleidoscope of colors...

White-winged Chough

≠=====================≠

Found a family feeding along a dry creek-line.

Sometimes they can be very tolerant with me and will carry on as if I wasn't there.

But, on this day, the wind, and low light meant they were on high alert and this one is just about to call and they all flew.

France; Coulonges (86) 19/10/21. After watching over several days it was still difficult to nail the male/female when not copulating.

Despite the messy backdrop here I quite like the unusual pose of this heron as he has a bit of a wing stretch.

I took a lot of photos of little critters today. This is the first Red Winged Black Bird I've seen in the feeder so far. Hope it comes back!

White-winged Black Tern

≠================≠

This was about the best well coloured one I was able to get near to. There were several well advanced, but they stayed on the far side of the pond.

In our red oak, with catkins in the background. Not my favorite bird, but I do like those eyes...

Not sure what type of bird made this impression in the snow. From looking around, I noticed a disturbance a few metres away, and so my guess is that this bird was rummaging around there for something, got it, then hopped over here, where it flapped its wings down for a take-off. It's not impossible it was an owl that found a mouse or vole, but it could easily have been a blue jay or crow.

The white-winged chough (Corcorax melanorhamphos) is one of only two surviving members of the Australian mud-nest builders family, Corcoracidae, and is the only member of the genus Corcorax. It is native to southern and eastern Australia and is an example of convergent evolution as it is only distantly related to the European choughs that it closely resembles in shape, and for which it was named.

I am still going through my archives. Hopefully I can get out on the weekend and take some more photos.

Not much white wing is visible in this image.

A couple of sweeties, these two. Showing no aggression towards each other, they co-existed quite peacefully. Adults bought in food and simply chose which one to feed. First juvenile plumage

Some of us are old enough to remember when nearly every car had a wing window that could be opened for ventilation. They have disappeared thanks to air conditioning and the need for more streamlined cars. This one is on a 40's era Ford and the safety glass has deteriorated, resulting in embedded shapes and colors. The yellow-winged blackbird (Agelasticus thilius) is a species of bird in the family Icteridae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Its natural habitats are swamps, intertidal marshes, and pastureland.

I've been wanting to get a photo of the other 2 minifigures that came with Poe's X-Wing fighter. I spotted them rushing off to somewhere, so I took this quick photo :-)

This week's Humble Offering of Humbility is brought to you by the immaculate Milwaukee Art Museum. I've seen many magnificent photos of this incredible structure on Flickr before, and apologize for any duplication. Alas, its "wings" were never spread while I was there, so it was more of a slim architectural wonder than a dude-check-out-my-wings-right?-architectural-wonder.

Have a creative week, everyone!
