I was watching this tiny, Black-capped Chickadee for a bit, then it turned around and started stretching its wings and legs. I found the different lines of its feathers mimicking those of the needles of on this Vanderwolf Pine tree to be an interesting study.
In this case, the often frustrating Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Contemporary lens nailed it. The details in the wing feathers is amazing.
It just had to be converted to B&W.

Another old boat at Dungeness that will never be at sea again.
For an account of my trip to Rye and Dungeness :
Red-Headed Woodpecker.
A 10 inch long bird. Whole head is red, wings and tail bluish-black which a large white patch on each wing, white underparts and white rump. It is conspicuous in flight. Immature resembles adult but has a brown head, 2 dark bars on white ring patch.
Their habitat consists of open-county, farms, rural roads, open park-like woodland, and golf-courses.
They range from Saskatchewan to Quebec in Canada south to the Gulf Coast and Florida. They are scarce in the northeastern U.S. states. They winter mainly in the southern part of their range.
Kensington Metropark, Livingston County, Michigan.
A male Red Winged Parrot shot during our lock down at Killarney in Queensland, Australia. It took days of stalking to get a decent result. I guess it kept me occupied.

394) White Winged Tern
White-winged Tern, White-winged Black Tern, Chlidonias leucoptera, Camar Hitam Sayap Putih
Their breeding habitat is freshwater marshes across from southeast Europe to central Asia. In winter, they migrate to Africa, southern Asia and Australia. These birds do not dive for fish, but fly slowly over the water to surface-pick items on the surface and catch insects in flight. They mainly eat insects and small fish. A totally protected migrant in Peninsular Malaysia.

Its blue plumage is highly iridescent due to the flattened and twisted surface of the barbules and it reflects ultraviolet light strongly, making it brightly lit to its female counterparts.
(Vermivora cyanoptera) -- Blue-winged Warbler
The Blue-winged Warbler sings a distinctive bee-buzz from brushy fields. It dangles from branches and leaves, foraging like a chickadee but shows off bright warbler plumage: a yellow belly, yellow-olive back, and white wingbars across blue-gray wings. A shrubland and old field specialist, it has benefited from landscape changes over the last 150 years as forest clearcuts and agricultural fields have grown up into scrubby fields. These changes have helped it expand northward, where it now hybridizes with and possibly threatens the much rarer Golden-winged Warbler.

This Black-winged Saltator (Saltator atripennis) was photographed at Villa de Aurora near Dapa, in the hills above Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, at about 1,980 meters. It has a mostly black head with a long, wide white eyebrow and a small white patch behind the ear, bright olive-green upperparts, and dull black wings and tail. Both sexes look alike. It is found only in Colombia and Ecuador, in forest edges, shrubby clearings and plantations, and in Colombia it ranges from 600 to 2,300 meters. Its nest is a deep cup of roots, moss and leaves. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L, at 1/350 sec, f/6.7, ISO 3200, −0.5 EV. The San Antonio cloud forest at Kilometer 18 is recognized as an Important Bird Area and a Key Biodiversity Area, with the Multicolored Tanager as its symbol species.

This Red-winged Blackbird was seen singing out LOUD at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve. I love their energy !

A bird I was really hoping to see on my trip east to Pt Pelee, Ohio and Michigan...and I saw a couple, but not so easy to photograph. This was the best of the bunch. A lifer too.
Wikipedia: The rufous-winged buzzard (Butastur liventer) is an Asian bird of prey. It is a resident breeder of Indochina, Java and Sulawesi. It is a species of deciduous forest and second growth up to 800 m.
This marsh wren was next to me, then noticed that I was there, and moved on. This was the prep step.

Black-winged stilt (Himantopus himantopus).
Stilts are generally very protective parents in the breeding season - patience and a quiet well screened hide allowed me to get some shots without alarming them.
The Great spangled fritillary (Speyeria cybele) alighted on one among a bed of echinacea. The telephoto lens compresses the distance and makes it look like a jungle of Purple coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea.) The steep light exaggerates the butterfly wing's texture.
I missed the beginning of pollinator week and today's the solstice. Cheers for the changing seasons.
