Windows XP recognises my homemade external USB optical drive. Time to install Ubuntu Desktop 9.04. :)
Disk defragmenter reorganizes files on your disks so that they can be read and written faster. This improves application response time, system boot speed and overall computer performance.

This Polar Infrared Interface USB that many people got with their Polar S-Series heart rate monitors is a USB 1.1 device. I've been trying to use it without success on my MacBook Pro with Polar Precision Performance Software running under Windows XP SP3 on VMware Fusion.

I left two computers here in the living room: the family PC (HP Pavilion a548hk) and PowerMac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet). The G4 is serving as a web server as well as print server (Not a clock server as i will dim the screen most of the time)
The USB port on studio display is dead (uh!) so I can't plug my keyboard there (bad!)
There's a Canon MP170 printer, so far so good...
This program will find duplicate files on your PC, so that you will be able to delete the copies you don't need and free up some disk space.
AVG Disk Cleaner scans your hard drives for files that waste disk space and slow down your computer. These may include temporary files, internet browser cache or junk files.

I was taking a lot of screenshots when I was moderating for J!NX Forums. I saved a bunch and thought I should upload them here for posterity sake.
Hell yeah, remember Hotline... I still use it. But mostly with my 68k Mac.
The Flowering Rush in Dutch goes by the name of Zwanebloem: Swan Flower, apparently because the six pistils - look carefully in the centre of the flower - seem to look like swans craning their necks. Whatever the case, the Graeco-Latin name is less confusing; it is derived from the Greek words for cow and for cutting; the cow-part is unclear to me, but the leaves of this 'rush' are indeed quite sharp - they even look a bit like swords - and you can easily be cut by them. The 'umbellatus' is clear as well: the flowers at the head of the stalk are on elements that together form an umbel or umbrella; you can see one unfocused in the background. The name 'rush' is something of a misnomer because there is no connection to the marsh plants of that name.
Very pretty, the Flowering Rush in The Netherlands is a protected flower and it may not be picked or destroyed. It was imported into North America, and I understand that in Canada and the US it has become a pest.
This photo was taken on a bright and clear day in Eelde near Groningen in the north of the Netherlands. The wasps and bees and other insects made it difficult to get one of the flowers alone... It is not surprising that the flower paintings of the featured artist in the wonderful local museum - De Buitenplaats - Margareta de Heer (c.1600-1665) often also have insects and butterflies in exquisite detail.
(Incidentally, I am still having problems with transferring images from my SonyT200 and my VAIO to my tabletop WindowsXP machine: the colors seem to go all awry... Does anyone have a solution?)
Almost every other time I wake my laptop from standby I see this wonderfully minimalist error message. As soon as I log in it disappears. So I have no idea which application is generating it. For all I know it might even be Windows that is trying to inform me about an error. As far as I can tell it isn't anything important, because everything seems to work fine once I'm logged back in.
I keep getting asked to post my "setup" while on various forums and sites. While not the best picture I've taken, it does what I need it to do.

Don't know how it works either! I guess it's where the word 'computer' comes from ;-)

My Thinkpad came up with this in the midst of work today, and now won't boot up at all, even in Safe Mode. So it's off to the repair place to see whether the laptop can be brought back from the dead and then data restored from my nighly backups.
Se trata de un momento especial, no caben dudas al respecto. Durante el artículo dedicado a los diez años del iPod realicé una pequeña mención a Windows XP, que también estaba cerca de cumplir una década de edad.
