This may be the only picture I've seen of us taken at the house my father built - the one where I live now. So it's fascinating to see everybody at this point in our lives, but the sun didn't exactly bring out anybody's best features..

The conventional wisdom was always that you put the sun at your back so the light falls on your subjects face. And that may have been true when they were shooting tin-types or the old, slow film cameras.

The downside is of course that in bright sunshine, you get perfectly clear pictures of people squinting in the glare of the sun. Of course, that can be fun too, in a mean kinda way...

Wood blinds in my sister's living room. Thought this one was neat with the sunset coming through the cracks.

I was at my sister's house yesterday evening and her camera has auto bracketing. I took some photos and brought them home with me last night and put them together. I really like the auto bracketing feature because you don't have to manually change the exposure for each shot you take. Very nice.

Here is a view of the curtain wall we created for this home. This wall of curtains spans almost 100 feet in length and is split into 8 sections.the entire wall of curtains can be moved from one extreme to the other. The curtain tracks are uninterrupted throughout to give a seamless look. This was extremely challenging to do as it involved custom painting all the hardware and hardmounting it into the ceiling... not an easy task, but we carried it out with precision and it worked out absolutely perfectly. the tracks are in 6 to 16 foot sections and there are a total of 7 altogether end to end, incorporating curves and bends to flow around corners and such. the installation of these curtains and hardware alone took almost 3 full days.

Here is a detail of four of the shades along one plane. they raise up and downand you can see how we placed the banding to mimic the window casings. without the banding there there would be dark shadow lines where the casings block the light coming through the window.

very very much work. we were very tired after making these, they toook 8 hours!

A view into one of my favorite kids room of all time. All fabrics used were from the Natasha Marshall collection, exclusively distributed in Canada by Ravi Design, the floor canvas is a magical work of art by local artist, Patricia Baun of Maude Decor, custom designed to create vibrancy and movement in this room.

multilayering is cool. These shades were made from 25 yards of fabric, consisted of over 400 individual banners and they are designed to raise and lower as normal shades.
