Pacific Bay View Inn, on Jones at O'Farrell St in the Downtown area of San Francisco, California; September 2011. The ubiquitous bricks make me nervous, quake-wise; but this is so common, it shouldn't really. Just part of the city story - like the satellite TV dish perched for a southeastern angle...)
Spent some time playing with Lane and his favorite things, his cars today! We sat in the windowsill and watched the snow outside and raced around the countertop. It was so nice to just spend time together playing and I just love the shots I got!
The 29 degrees (plus chiling breeze) outside was offset by the warm sun beaming through the large window of the Kia dealership. I brought along some catch-up reading and was sipping the free coffee while waiting for my car to be serviced. I had my iPad in my purse, so . . .
I now wish I had placed a darker magazine on top, but this was the only one that didn't have my address visible. It doesn't look so washed out on my desktop, though, just when I uploaded it to Flickr. :-( Tweaked it a bit in Aviary--first time I had used that.
The primary window and one of two smaller light portals that sit either side. The rest of this building is very straight and square which perhaps makes the curves stand out even more.

MOST OFTEN PEOPLE STARE AT THE WINDOWS LOST IN THOUGHTS. THIS IS ONE SUCH MOMENT WHEN I WAS IN LALA LAND AND SUDDENLY THE WINDOW ITSELF CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. STRANGE LIFE!

Interesting windows (or an arch) in the sandstone near Whiterocks Amphitheater. Behind the windows is a small cave plenty big enough to shelter a couple of people. Up above the openings, too high for me to reach, is a pictograph of Kokopelli. Doesn't seem possible that it could be very old but it's way up there, too high to reach without a ladder and there's nothing left to stand on to reach up there.

June 5, 2012 - "As The Pendulum Swings" Day 3 - Snow Canyon State Park near St George, UT
The nice woman at the visitor center recommended the Whiterocks Trail instead of Padre Canyon, saying there had been lots of rockslides in Padre and there were lots of off-trail go-arounds.
So we hiked Whiterocks, from the top down to Lava Flow and out to the overlook, then back up and did the spur out to Whiterocks Amphitheater.

I took these on the way to work over the last couple of weeks a little insight into other peoples' lives.
I have been thinking recently about doing a project based on Cambridge but not the boring and over photographed 'Kings College by night/day/dusk/dawn" (you get the idea!) More inspired by photos like this, shop windows, and normal Cambridge life. Because, believe it or not; people live in Cambridge who have nothing to do with the University! I have already photographed Fitzbillies and the robe shop.
This also stems from the black and white architectural shoot I did which was specifically commissioned not to include cheesy 'Cambridge' shots:
