While taking photos throughout the city yesterday, I was obsess with the reflections in the windows. Windows are the views to the world :)

There was an event last weekend in Racine (WI) where a number of buildings were open to the public. I went to the courthouse, a bed and breakfast and three churches. This is one of the lovely stained glass windows at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church.

I am also posting a shot of the outside of the building and shots of the rest of their windows.

Today is day 11 of my 365 project, and I managed to get my post up early...sweet! So far as a result of not feeling well and extremely cold temperatures I have had to post items from my archive of photos.

Window shot of a really nice day.

The 'Clutterbuck' window in Newark Park National Trust.

Sir Nicholas Poyntz, an attendant to Henry VIII, chose to build his state-of-the-art hunting lodge on this Cotswold ridge in c.1550. The dramatic and secluded landscape was perfect for hosting guests in style.

Each subsequent owner made the house their own, embellishing it to keep up with the fashions of the day and to impress guests. The Clutterbuck family in particular made their mark working with various architects including James Wyatt who installed the eye-catching stained-glass in 1817 into the Cotswold stone bay window frames which date from around 1550.

Happy Window Wednesday

Thames Water ( then located in Roseberry Avenue ) commissioned the striking East window to be erected by A.E. Buss of Goddard & Gibbs in 1962. The window depicts the risen glory of Christ ascending. The grey logo of Thames Water is central at the base and commemorates the building of the New River, between 1604 and 1613 by Sir Hugh Myddelton. Dame Alice Owen, a great local benefactor, is depicted on the left with the coat of arms of the Corporation of the City of London (who remain patrons of the parish today). To the right is The coat of arms of Islington and a picture of the Angel Inn one time first coaching house on leaving the city.

Although the Fylde Line into Blackpool is generally regarded as being reasonably flat, as the area is essentially a coastal plain, there is a distinctive 'hump' between Blackpool North station and Layton, just over a mile distant. The ruling 1-in-110 gradient is well illustrated here, as Class 37 No. 37025 'Inverness TMD', assisted by Colas Railfreight Class 37 No. 37219 at the rear, descends into Layton having just departed Blackpool North with the returning SRPS 1Z39 1643 charter to Polmnont on 1st July 2017. In the background is Northern Class 156 No. 156439, having just passed over the summit on the approach to Blackpool North station. The morning warm sunshine had, by this time, turned wet and chilly, and not the ideal time to engage in a bit of the now frowned upon window hanging! I loved the light coming in through this window in the Chapter house. It has a certain glow.
