I recently went on a photo "tour" of the former Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (also know as the Weston State Hospital) in Weston, West Virginia. It includes a pretty amazing old Kirkbride building and a number of outbuildings in various stages of decay. The "tour" really was just an opportunity to photograph the buildings, many of which are otherwise inaccessible, with a pretty small group of photographers. It was a great opportunity because you are pretty much on your own to photograph what you want. I think they do the tours two or three times a year, so if you like photographing old mental hospitals (and be honest, who doesn't!) then I highly recommend a visit. If anyone is interested, I posted a bunch of images from the day on my Smugmug site (which frankly displays them better than Flickr, especially if your just run through them in "slideshow" mode). Hard to believe its been almost two months since I posted anything on Flickr. I've been very busy with other things and just haven't had the time. I appreciate the notes from folks asking if I'd fallen off the face of the earth. I hope to check in this weekend and see what everyone has been posting in my absence.
FR Mulhouse 2006 - Trompe l'oeil windows. What fun. Notice that the artist even rendered the ripples in the glass in the right window.

Das Azure Window (maltesisch Tieqa Żerqa, deutsch Blaues Fenster), ist ein durch Umwelteinflüsse entstandenes Felsentor im Westen der maltesischen Insel Gozo. Es ist etwa 100 m lang und 20 m hoch.
A window and stairway at Hughes Hall, one of the colleges of Cambridge University. This rather modern building has pleasin gviews across the University cricket ground on one side, and unrivalled views of the Queen Anne's car park on the other (from where this was taken).
It's too bad i'm not handy...otherwise I'd love to have a old house with alot of character and history. Unfortunately, I can barely hang blinds.

This is one of the larger arches in Arches National Park. The size of this formation is indicated by the people standing in the bottom of the arch -
