Cliffe FC finally began 2010 with a great 7-2 win over Bishop Wilton.
This game was played at Thorpe United's ground. Many thanks goes to them.
This game saw Cliffe have 6 different scorers with Kev Taylor opening scoring, Nobby Taylor grabbing a brace before half time. Shane Cawkill, Ben Rawson, Tom Hogg and Andy Addison rounded off and sealed the 3 points for Cliffe FC
The lines and shape of these goals had a calming sense of order and proportion that countered the din of the arts and crafts show carrying on below.

After every win, the guys line up, facing the crowd. They raise their sticks high, then slap them to the ice all at once. At this point, the crowd goes wild and the boys skate off.
This was a very, very fin game to see. It's been a long time since I've seen any hockey... Not since May or April. At one point in the game, between two of the fights, the crowd started to chant "USA! USA!" That was very exciting and satisfying.
The first three games of the 2008 season have the Sox looking like this 1-2 so far in the W/L column....the opener should've gone our way...game two we sucked...no other way to put it....
Now how was game 3 (First win of 2008) different for the good guys? Good pitching! John Danks went untouched minus a walk through five and in the seventh when things look rough (THANKS A LOT JERMAINE FOR FUCKING UP DANKS' WIN TODAY!!!!!) the bullpen was lights out to a powerful Indian offense....
Sox win 2-1 and now are off to Detroit for a three game series after they were swept in their opening series against (drumroll please....) The Kansas City Royals...which proves...good pitching wins ball games....
Its a far cry from the 2005 season but thats what being a fan is all about...sticking it out through thick and thin....
