It is still hazy and dark. But in a few hours the sun will win and it will be a beautiful autumn day.

Solar Illumination over Win Hill! Peak District ,Derbyshire, UK, August 2016

Another photo in my 'Closed Up' Close Ups series. Here's the link: flic.kr/s/aHBqjzVwYp

This image was taken in Nelson, Lancashire, in October 2022.

"Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose." Lyndon B. Johnson

Early evening view from Borajna, Herzegovina towards Klobuk and the Vrgorac Mountains in Croatia. Rain cloud, dusk and sun in the distance, who will win? I think the darkness will consume everything in a few minutes.

Hummel gets nectar lavender is sufficiently pollinated....

Win Hill seen across the Derwent Valley from a heather-clad Bamford Edge.

Win Hill and Lose Hill seen on a murky day from High Neb on Stanage Edge.

Win Hill catching the first rays of the Sun.

A change from our week in Birmingham, back to our time in the Peak District:

Unless you know the area here you won't understand the title - this is the shadow of Lose Hill onto Win Hill, which is across the valley with the railway from Manchester to Sheffield passing through. I spent my time here looking across at this view wanting to fill in that little gap in the trees....... :-)

A Happy Weekend to you!

The Hope Valley and Edale from Win Hill.

Coastal South Carolina. When we were planning our trip to coastal Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina our hopes were high for some great birding. It was not to be however. Numbers were way lower than we expected and we had challenging weather for several days. Such is the plight of nature and wildlife photographers. Can't win 'em all.

A slice of life before pandemic. :-)

Win Hill seen across the Derwent Valley from Bamford Edge.

This is a good as the sunset ever got on my visit to Bamford Edge. The sun is just about to die behind the distant cloud between Win Hill and Mam Tor across the Derwent Valley.

The rock face catching the last of the suns rays and the edge leads down towards Ladybower Reservoir and the Ashopton Viaduct.

Its a great place to watch the sun go down across the Peak District and it was being enjoyed by quite a few people. Including a party of bare chested Turk's complete with their Sisha Pipe who were revelling behind me as I took this shot! It was also a chance encounter with a fellow photographer and friend John Bleakley who had been over at Winnats Pass earlier.

Looking north from Win Hill in the clearing mist.

From the top of Win Hill Pike on a very windy day, at least it was at the top. Bradwell village can just be seen in the shadows.

The path leading to the summit of Win Hill on a cold and frosty morning shortly before sunrise.

Just before sunrise on Win Hill.

Nikon Vs Canon

Looks like Willie's going down..... Canon wins this round.

Ouch !

Looking across to the village of Bamford, with Bamford edge on the left.....From the lower slopes of Win hill.

Buddy welcomes me in the morning and she likes sitting on this particular branch. It's a win-win situation because it is quite low and I can make nice pictures from both sides (Squirrels-2020-6013.jpg)

Win Hill summit looking towards Edale and Kinder Scout as rainclouds gather in the distance.

A snowy Peak District seen from Win Hill shortly after sunrise.

I don't usually do night shots but my son had a rough day at school so I promised him a quick night time jolly. It was win/win - we both took photos and he got to race about in the dark like a loon and also tell me all his woes.

Why does everything have to be the same?

Like one vine leaf resembling the other?

"Double-Win" .... yesterday as the southbound Lake State road train had a pair of slug sets doing the work - nice to see four units together in the new image paint - here near Rose Center, Michigan on February 8, 2020.

Another view of Win Hill emerging from the temperature inversion in the Derwent Valley seen from Bamford Edge.
