CSXT L007, the weekday Middleboro to Attleboro turn, is climbing the hill up from the Win Waste facility back toward the Myles Standish Industrial lead with their three GP40-2s and a cut of outbound loaded trash cars. This important and relatively new customer that has breathed new life into the Myles Standish Industrial Lead which is accessed from Attleboro Junction at MP 8.6 on the Middleboro Secondary mainline a bit over a half mile behind me where they dropped the balance of their train on their way back east from Attleboro.
The Middleboro Sub is strange in that it is owned by MassDOT and dispatched and maintained by Mass Coastal, but CSX still operates it and serves the customers as the direct corporate successor of CR, PC, NH, and all the way back to the Old Colony Railroad. In fact this particular segment of line here on the Myles Standish was opened in 1836 by OCRR predecessor Taunton Branch Railroad making it one of the oldest rail routes in New England. Becoming a mainline for the Old Colony it survived as a secondary through route under New Haven aegis seeing its last passenger train pass shortly before the connection with the shoreline was severed at Mansfield in 1955 to make way for a highway grade separation project. The tracks into Mansfield center lasted until about 1966 for freight service served from this end, but then were abandoned leaving only the present 1.5 mile stub still in use today up to the large industrial park.

This enchanting Mosel area in Germany is synonymous with magnificent landscapes, romantic wine villages, a river valley, the blue crater lakes in the Eifel region and charming little towns such as Trier, Koblenz or Cochem.
A trip to Mt Vernon IL paid off today as the Conrail heritage unit led EVWR train NDN1 to the dock at West Franklin.
On the way up Win Hill the mist became more like fog at times and created some great outlines of the trees.

Oh no, the award for absolute worst photo title ever goes to me! Sorry guys, although this seems more like an occasion for a #sorrynotsorry tag.
Anyway, I made it up to the Palouse! This is a gorgeous area of farmland around Colfax, Washington (but only an hour from Moscow, Idaho if you're from my state), and I'd seen so many beautiful pictures that I'd been longing to check it out for a while (preferably in spring when everything was nice and green). The general consensus of the landscape photographer community seemed to be that the best views were to be had from Steptoe Butte, so to Steptoe I went!
The view from Steptoe definitely didn't disappoint. More gusts of wind than I would have liked and the narrow road that winds up the Butte is a bit scary and pothole-ridden, but it's worth it for the panoramic scene before you. Apparently a lot of other photographers feel the same way too, though, because I saw something like 30-50 that evening. There was even a van ("Aperture Academy" or something) seemingly giving people photo tours. On this hillside alone I bet there were 10-15 other people, although for a while none of them ventured down the hill with me. Why? No clue, but I think I ended up being in a few of their shots, which is funny.
So, I don't know if I'd return to Steptoe in a heartbeat, even though the views are great, just because fighting for space with that many other photographers isn't a huge draw for me. (They're also all at least twice my age and mostly male - why??) But I figure sometimes you have to see the famous places before you can break the rules and find your own spot for your own take on stuff, so I'm glad I went. I feel like this wider angle including the beautiful wildflowers is a bit different from the normal telephoto take on the landscape, too, so I can live with that.
So, visit Steptoe! Highly recommended. ...just prepare for the crowds.

After the previous nights drenching I was hoping for a little sunlight. This image is looking across to Win Hill. Legend has it, it gets it name from the battle of Win and Lose hill back in 626.
Fans display a “Cubs Win” flag following a recent night-game victory by the Chicago Cubs major league baseball team at Wrigley Field, the Cubs’ home park.
The Cubs haven’t won a World Series in 105 years, and they’re in last place again this season. But with many promising young rookies now on the team, Cubs fans are hoping that flag displays such as this one can soon become more of a cliche occurrence at Wrigley, perhaps as soon as next season. Yes, hope springs eternal… :-)

The character in the wall behind means wine. This is the place where the famous "San Bai Wine" is made. San Bai translates into "Three white". The wine is made of white rice, white flour (?? I think) and white water (Pure water). This wine is a speciality of Wuzheng.
New dress from yesterday. I love this model. It's from the Dolly Dolly book 6 and originally for Dals.
It was a year today that my beautiful Big Win crossed over the rainbow bridge. She was such a big cuddly girl and I miss her hugs. Mojo will only sit on your lap when she wants to (i.e. when it's cold!) and Nana avoids everyone at all times - lol
