Small minor eruptions like the one pictured are common for Steamboat Geyser in the Back Basin of Yellowstone National Park’s Norris Geyser Basin. These minor eruptions come from both the north and south vents and reach heights of between 6 (2 m) and 40 (12 m) feet. Steamboat does have significant but rare major eruptions. During a major eruption Steamboat shoots water more than 300 feet high (91 m). The water phase of these major eruption last between 3 and 40 minutes followed by a steam phase that can last hours to days. It is currently the tallest active geyser in the world. The interval between major eruption has been over 50 years. With that said, currently Steamboat Geyser is in a rare active phase. Since the geyser reactivated in early 2018 until July 3, 2020, Steamboat has had 104 major eruptions. In fact this photo was taken on June 11 between a major eruption on June 8 and June 12, 2020. (Got to be lucky and/or willing to wait for a long time to see this one.) The logpole pines (Pinus contorta) behind the geyser are dead or dying due to the frequent eruptions that cover them with silica rich water.
Seen in the gardens of Anglesey Abbey (Cambridgeshire). I myself, as a photographer, became a willing victim of that serious geometry - until that is that this little girl sprinted into the frame. "What a relief", I thought. Life comes first. And then comes our imaginary order that we try to force upon ourselves and upon nature.
Qīngchéng Shān (Sichuan, China), it is considered one of the birthplaces of Taoism. It consists of 36 peaks and dozens of Taoist monasteries and temples were built on them, in past centuries. This colorful mother hen was willing to let me creep close enough to study her three little chicks. If you visit the Hawaiian island of Kauai, you will find these beautiful fowl everywhere.
Most people suggest that the feral chicken population can be traced back to when Hurricane Iniki hit Kauai in 1992. It has been reported that the devastating hurricane destroyed a number of chicken farms.

Sharing? Not willingly- this ferruginous hawk (Buteo regalis) cautiously guards a prairie dog carcass that it had already temporarily lost to a bald eagle who chased it from its meal. However the bald eagle flew off when a car stopped to admire it, and for a brief time 3 magpies enjoyed the prairie dog tartare. The magpies (Pica hudsonia) were again supplanted by the ferruginous hawk, which eventually took its meal to a nearby cottonwood for a bit more solitude.
For weeks now folks have been telling me they've been seeing Indigo Buntings in their yard - even at their feeders! Just as I was about to give up any hope of seeing one this year, one of my sisters, who was visiting for a family birthday, happened to look out at our backyard and calmly commented, "There's a blue bird out there."
Thinking she meant an Eastern Bluebird, which we have, I went to confirm her sighting and nearly passed out when I saw an INDIGO BUNTING! Eating grass seed in an area of the yard which hadn't been mowed!
Then chaos erupted as everyone ran for their cameras and jostled for space at the window. We were too afraid to open it for fear of scaring it off, and therefor willing to settle for photos taken through the window.
IT WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS, when nothing was happening, we all have them, was sitting in the hide, waiting, and willing this tufty to swim past this area of reeds that was being highlighted by a brief show of sun, which also meant it had to go past the hide, eventually it took a mad rush, hence the large wake of water, and luckily, managed to capture this one. ♂︎ Common Kingfisher / Eisvogel (Alcedo atthis)
A Kingfisher can brighten up any afternoon. On this occasion, this was as much as he was willing to show whilst fishing on a local pond.
He's perched above the same reed bed that the Rail in this shot was wading through, just a few minutes proir. A good day!
"Finding peace"
The moment you realize that you can have everything you want in life. However, it takes timing, the right heart, the right action, the right passion and a willingness to risk it all. If it is not yours, it is because you really didn't want it!!! ;)
Willing to work for peanuts & suet!

Inspired by Tatiana Moroz - A Home In The Meadow
Away, away, come away with me
where the grass grows wild and the winds blow free
Away, away, come away with me
and I'll build you a home in the meadow
Come, come, there's a wondrous land
for the hopeful heart and the willing hand
Come, come, there's a wondrous land
where I'll build you a home in the meadow
The stars, the stars, oh how bright they'll shine
on a world the lord himself designed
The stars, the stars, oh how bright they'll shine
on the home we will build in the meadow
Come, come, there's a wondrous land
for the hopeful heart and the willing hand
Come, come, there's a wondrous land
where I'll build you a home in the meadow
Love tulips? The perky flowers — closely associated with the Netherlands — come into bloom in London in mid-April, often lasting into May. While you won't find sprawling tulip fields here in the capital, there are still plenty of parks and gardens, from palaces to Royal Parks, where you can get your fill of tulip-mania. And if you're willing to travel a little beyond London? Even better! Here's your guide on where and when to see tulips

LOL.... one of them anyway! But since this snail was so willing to pose for me, I guess it's forgiven. ;)
So I purchased the Sony 24/70 f2.8 GM lens and where I purchased it from I was able to get a bounce flash made to work with the Sony camera.
Put them to the test this evening. This capture of my schnauzer posing in mostly dark lower level of our home. Had the AF animal eye detection on and at f/2.8 it focused in the dark spot on. Took a bunch, and they all turned out very nice as the camera was able to easily follow his head movements.
Bounce the flash into him from our low ceiling helping to keep him from looking too flat.
Gotta love those ears ;)
Note - even at ISO 1600 ... had to apply "0" noise control in Lightroom. Amazing results with the Sony camera.

I spent about 12 hours on the road, in total, going to two different locations on the Quirinthe peninsula with three different drivers. The drivers varied in their willingness to stop for pictures, unfortunately. Some of the time I was forced to take very "quick" pictures. I did see a good deal of the countryside and the very primitive living conditions of the Macua people.
Homes are mud huts with thatched roofs. Usually there is no electricity and certainly no running water. Merely existing takes up a good deal of the day. The roads were remarkably good, but I saw few vehicles. The locals see very few travellers so to the children of the area I was their mystery for the day.
A famous Canadian photographer named Freeman Patterson once quipped that good photography was not a matter of the
distance you were willing to travel. Rather, it was about seeing what was around you. In his book he mentions that the majority of his work was taken less than a kilometer from his house.
“Seeing, in the finest and broadest sense, means using your senses, your intellect, and your emotions. It means encountering your subject matter with your whole being. It means looking beyond the labels of things and discovering the remarkable world around you.”
― Freeman Patterson

A single migrating pied-billed grebe mixed in with a small flock of blue-winged teal. It was also a willing photo subject as I stood by the side of the pond.

Left for the pond a couple of hours ago. A bit windy, but a comfortable 76°. I saw this one damselfly, and only one. I can't be sure because I got this one close up, and have nothing to compare it to (and I'm out of practice after the smoky season shutdown). It's a bluet, and that's as far as I'm willing to go. Meanwhile, after an hour. it was getting warmer, and I decided to head home. It was 101° when I "hit" the front door. Just made it.
I don't know about you, but I try and come up with a few different styles of images of my poinsettias each year.

I was a little girl
Alone in my little world
Who dreamed of a little home for me
I played pretend between the trees
And fed my house guests bark and leaves
And laughed in my pretty bed of green
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing
I had a dream
Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park
I asked God who I'm supposed to be
The stars smiled down on me
God answered in silent reverie
I said a prayer and fell asleep
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree
I had a dream
Now I'm old and feeling gray
I don't know what's left to say about this life I'm willing to leave
I lived it full and I lived it well
There's many tales I lived to tell
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now to fly from the highest wing
I had a dream
I was a little girl
Alone in my little world
Who dreamed of a little home for me

it takes a discerning eye to capture the truth
it takes a discerning heart to be captured by truth
it takes a love of earth to know both.
close your eyes and you close your heart.
close your heart and lose the part
the part of you that wants to be held, loved and accepted into the part of you that knows the truth.
so don't run and hide in a world so bold
that gives you a truth that is so cold
come back to the moment of baby smell delight
and know that your innocence is oh so right.
so balance your life in between the lines
stay the course you were meant to find
in between life and death is a world so fine
all you need do is be willing to be kind.
amen and amen
I consider myself very lucky to have a willing victim of my photographic exploits. My hubby, Ron Harper and I have been married for 10 years now and still loving it. I asked him to sit for a portrait session today to commemorate the moment.
