I had been shut out for 5 nights in a row on this trip and was willing to shoot anything at this point. As I was running around to the different viewpoints on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon looking for some open sky, I rounded the corner along the drive and hit the brakes for a quickie. :) I set up one light panel quickly and snapped 3 shots then jumped back in and off I went. I used a cooler white balance than usual on this one at around 3200. :)

FAMILIAR black, grey and white bird. The Pied Wagtail has a bounding flight and distinctive habit of pumping its tail up and down. They love locations such as playing fields and supermarket car parks, where this one was captured, but I was willing it to go into a little grass area to get a better image.

Vendor sells a bird’s prison pardon to those willing to pay for its freedom. This is a common story in Asia, where “merit releases” of captive wild animals are performed in Buddhist, Hindu and other religious rituals. But the practice raises concern amongst the conservation community for its potential to impact threatened species. Before a bird can be freed, it has to be captured. The result potentially impacts wild populations and mistreats animals, most of which are likely to die on their flight to freedom. In these cages are Kingfishers, Indian Rollers & a small Owl.

The Cedar Waxwing was calling from this single open branch. Often feeding in trees with fruit or blossoms, this one took an open spot and allowed me to grab a few shots.

Because this Blue Tiger Butterfly stayed on the Cornflower for a long time, I had the opportunity to look for various background colours. The purple halo comes from a Brunfelsia flower.

This is a long exposure from Widemouth bay in Cornwall, I'd spotted these layers with sand wave patterns in them, they looked so beautiful, and you could imagine the scene when they were formed millions of years ago. The heart is willing is a great track by A A Bondy, and has no great meaning, apart from even when I've got a bad back , I still will myself down the beach.

When my daughter was around 8-10 years old (she's now 31)... she wanted this tiny little plant that was in a small clay pot to keep in her room.... and she named it Harold.

Years later, she went off to collage and I cared for him... he has branched off and also graduated into a larger clay pot!!

It's not easy to find willing photo models, not even at the zoo. Most animals aren't really fond of cameras. The pelicans are an exception as most of the time they even love to pose for photos.

Fynn isn't a very willing photo model these days, he probably thinks that this is Filou's job now. If I'm lucky I manage a quick snapshot before he notices what I'm doing. The heather is one of his favourite spots in the garden which is the reason why some of the plants are quite flat now.

With over 1000km of coast to explore on PEI you are bound to find some unique areas and if you are willing to take a hike along the water you will be rewarded with some fantastic albeit transitory scenery. The coastline of PEI has been eroding since it broke off from the mainland and the annual rate of shoreline lost is 1 foot especially following big weather events. With the rate of erosion happening whatever you shoot as a coastal image will not be replicated as nature removes an epidermal layer everyday making every image capture a unique one.

I took this on Sept 14, 2022 with my D850 and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 Lens at 26mm, 1/40s, f8 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO Nik

This will be the only other Iris photo I will show. The rest of them had focus problems I just couldn't live with.

I had a really difficult time telling, through the viewfinder, when it was in focus properly (my lenses are so old and beat up, they won't auto-focus anymore... well ONE lens won't... the other one won't manual focus. sigh.)

So here is the other iris shot I was willing to share. I has focus issues too, but not as bad.

Alison, below, says the colors are off the scale... she meant it is beautiful, but I realize the colors really ARE off the scale. However, I like it that way, so vivid!

Another much loved place again with a turbulent sea.

The beauty that surrounds us in everything for those willing to see.

FLAMBOROUGH, probably our favourite 'haunt', the weather and colours typical 'North-Sea'...

We both grew up on the Coast (different Continents!!!), with the sea, its pleasures and its dangers.

This wonderful place is on the North-Yorkshire Heritage coast.

You have Flamborough Head with the lighthouse.

The North Landing = Smuggler's Cove, you can see where it gets its name, when the tide is out, you can get into the caves, and then, The South Landing where the Life guards have their house and boat.

All within a mile from each other, three different places entirely, in the center you'll find a small village.

Its beauty, through the seasons ALWAYS special, its people, birds and superb views, changing with the weather, influencing the -all so important- light!

The cliffs are limestone...
