Public meeting in support of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange - London, 07/02/2011
As WikiLeaks' editor-in-chief Julian Assange fights against legal attempts this week by the Swedish prosecutor to have him extradited to Sweden from where there is a very real fear by many that he will be illegally 'rendered' to the United States where there have been many open, public calls by politicians and pundits for him to be executed or even just murdered on the street without trial, there was a public meeting in support of Assange and WikiLeaks organised by the Stop The War Coalition.
In front of a packed audience of 300 enthusiastic supporters in London's Conway Hall, the speakers were peace activist Jemima Khan, convenor of Stop The War Lindsey German , president of Stop The War Tony Benn and veteran peace activist and historian Tariq Ali, all of whom had attended Assange's first trial day at Belmarsh Magistrate's Court. Assange's legal proceedings have been moved to Belmarsh specifically to make it much more difficult and inconvenient for his supporters to gather and protest.

If they ever make a film about Wikileaks, David Fincher is the man to direct it.
He recently completed a film about Facebook (The Social Network) and is currently in Sweden shooting a conspiracy thriller (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).
Think about it: computer hackers, Sweden and intrigue.
It is all there!
Wikileaks Rally #2 sydney
town hall sydney
the march was cancelled as the police said they didn't have enough resources due to Oprah's visit (she was doing a show at opera house). after the rally some of the protesters walked down george street on the footpath. the police cars drove slowly alongside. so they ended up blocking the traffic (cars were sounding the horn as the police cars were half across the road blocking the oncoming traffic when lights changed) there was even a helicopter overhead (probably one of the patrol ones around since oprah's visit)

Genetic Portraits
Radical Love, Heather Dewey-Hagborg (2016)
Incarcerated for disclosing classified information to WikiLeaks, Chelsea Manning could not be photographed while in prison. These portraits were generated using only her genetic information, extracted and interpreted from hair trimmings and cheek swabs. Until her release in May 2017, these were the only public images of Manning following her gender transition in 2016. The portrait is composed of two faces, each showing a nuance in gender. They reveal the wealth of information available in the smallest traces of our bodies.
